I bought the small, hand-held, cordless Dyson Animal at Costco years ago, and I use it ALL the time. Little messes in the kitchen, dog hair on the hard woods, spilled dry goods in the pantry….it’s a little champ at that getting that stuff. I even clean the furnace return and vents with its brush. My big Dyson came with attachments that fit the little one — I even vacuum one of my dogs with it (he likes it…). I hate dragging out the big vac, but I grab the little hand-held one frequently. It’s totally worth owning — it is better than the old-school Dustbuster-type hand-helds from a generation ago.

      What about battery life?

      • Jes

I have the V8, and the battery will last me about 45 minutes. I can do my entire downstairs, window seals and both sofas. It will usually run longer than that, but the suctions is greatly reduced.

Wow! Thanks so much for telling us all about this and how much you love it! We really appreciate the feedback, Maggie!

I got a refurbished one a little over a year ago from eBay or Woot (can’t remember which). The battery life is now less than 5 mins. I liked the convenience of a little handheld and that the suction power was very good, but now it’s almost useless. I don’t know if that how other people’s experience with refurb Dyson.

Oh bummer! SO sorry to her about that, Sev! Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Wow that’s the lowest price I’ve seen on the V8 and I have been looking because our refurbished V6 has been acting up slightly and hubby wants to upgrade.
We’ve been very happy with our refurbed one – I think it’s lasted 2 years since we’ve been in our new house.

That’s great to hear! Thanks for taking a moment to comment, Denise G!

I bought the V-8 new about 9 months ago, and love love the convenience and no cord. I have been totally happy with it. The battery still works fine, I have wondered how long the battery lasts. I highly recommend!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the recommendation, Susan!

The battery run time on the V11 is 60 minutes, and on the V8 40 minutes. We expect the battery to last the life of the machine with proper maintenance and when used according to the user manual. The preceding is information just sent to me via live chat from Dyson regarding battery life.

Thanks so much for the helpful comment, Susan! Good to know!
