On the fence? See what Collin had to say about this cool kitchen appliance…

I own This ice cream maker as well as a handful of Hip2Save team members including my sidekick, Lina! It’s definitely on the pricey side, but – in our opinion, it is well worth the cost! We use it ALL.THE.TIME.

It’s so easy even the kiddos can do it. You basically just add ingredients to the bowl, press a button, and you’ve got homemade ice cream in less than an hour! There are NO other steps needed as the ice cream maker does EVERYTHING for you. It’s SO COOL! Yes, I get this excited about ice cream. 😉

Do you have a general breakdown of prices for the cost of premade ice cream vs. the cost of buying all the ingredients for homemade ice cream?

    • Barbara

Kathleen I don’t think it’s possible to do a breakdown cost on this item. It would depend on what type of ice cream you’re making and if you got the ingredients on sale or where you purchase them. For example a large Supermarket by me charges $4 for a pint of heavy cream however a discount store like Aldi charges around $2.40 for the same thing. This machine is good for people who want to options on different flavors of ice cream types of ingredients to use. An option to make your own ice cream without all the other additional ingredients. It could become cost-saving for instance if you had ingredients in your fridge that you needed to use such as fruit. I hope that helps have a great day.

I make the America’s Test Kitchen chocolate ice cream with this maker and it’s WAY better than most any ice cream on the market. Full-fat, custard ice cream in this machine produces a product that is comparable – or better – to the super premium ice creams like Haagen-Dazs or Ben & Jerry’s. I use ~ 2 cups cream ($1.95 at Aldi), 2.5 cups whole milk (~$1.50), 12 oz chocolate chips ($1.89), 6 egg yolks (~$.75) as well as some sugar and vanilla, which are negligible in cost. That makes the ingredients approximately $6 for about two quarts of ice cream. Super premium ice cream is usually $3.50/pint on sale near me, so I come out ahead making it at home. (Aldi has a super premium chocolate for $4.19/58 oz right now that I bought because of the price, but it’s NOT comparable in taste/texture.)

Finally got this. So exciting! Thanks

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Yay! You’re so welcome!

  3. cindy

That is quite a deal on this. My only hesitation is where to put the thing when I’m not using it? Or, where to put it when I am using it? I never seem to have enough cabinet or counter space.

    • Tori

Same issue here with all of the great appliance deals

    • cindy

Well, I’ll have to figure it out, because I did it, and got one. I used the two $25 gift cards that I purchased to get the $5 credit to take care of all but about $100 of it.

      • Tori

Amazon sold out but was able to get one through Walmart!

  6. Gina G.

I got one last year and it came with NO instructions & haven’t been able to get any of anywhere.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh bummer! I do find the instructions and sample recipes listed in the User Manual, when clicking through the link above and scrolling down to the Product Information. You can then click on “user manual”. Hope that helps!

      • Gina G.

        Thanks!

  7. Stacie Frost

  13. A.B.

I sprung for this, and am so excited!!! I’ve used the Kitchen-Aid ice cream attachment/mixer for a while, and I love it, but I’m STOKED about the idea of being able to make ice cream without chilling the bowl & ingredients etc., and the spontaneity, yay!!! I’d love for y’all to post some recipes for this. Thanks for rocking Prime Day, keep up the great work H2S!!!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You bet, A.B.! Thanks for the kind comment! You’re very welcome!

  14. Erin

What type of container do you store your ice cream in once it is made?

  15. PrincessMom

I’ve been thinking about one of these for a while..we do love ice cream and we’re trying to eat healthier. I think being able to make it ourselves and know exactly what’s in there would be good. I’m going to try holding out for a Black Friday sale…

  16. Denise

Is it true that the ice cream finishes with a softer texture and you have to freeze it afterwards to get it firmer like true hard ice cream??

  17. Allison M.

Oh how I wish I had the extra 💰 for this right now, but I can’t justify it with closing on our house next month. Fingers crossed it’ll go on sale again later! We ♥️ 🍦!

  18. Jeremiah2911

    Sold out but awesome deal!!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Bummer! Thanks for the heads up!
