Just did this with a game my daughter got but never played.
Heads up though, they won’t take an unopened game for trade. I literally was turned away, had to open it in my car and drive to a different store to trade it in. Aggravating, stupid, and not mentioned on their website.

Try taking it to a local independent game store. They would most likely take it and they possibly may give you a bit more than gamestop would give you. Our local owned game store for example goes off gamestop trade in prices but he gave us an extra 10% on our trade we did on sunday. Cant speak for all them though of course but the few locally owned game stores that are in my city have very good reviews and reputation compared to the gamestops.
