Avenue Stores, a plus-size clothing retailer for women, has announced that it will be closing all 222 of its locations. Since it launched in 1983, Avenue has been known for offering fashion-forward accessories and clothing in sizes 14-32.

Avenue locations are now offering discounts of 30-50% off the lowest ticketed prices on all merchandise, including denim, swimwear, shoes, accessories and more. All brands and items are included in the closing sale nationwide, and in-store fixtures are being sold as well.

“Avenue shoppers will be amazed not only by the incredible savings but also by the great selections and styles available at the closing sale. Given the popularity of the brand and the seasonal trends, merchandise is sure to sell out quickly. We are encouraging consumers to shop early and take advantage of these offers,” said a spokesperson for the partnership conducting the liquidation sale.

Avenue currently operates in 33 states. A complete list of locations is available, and you can also find the store nearest to you at Avenue.com.

Wow. This is very disappointing for clothing and comfortable shoes and wide calf boots.

Now that Payless is closed, this was my back-up for wide width shoes that are actually comfy and that I can actually try on. I have a stupid wide foot in the toe joint area, finding it more difficult to find great shoes that are cute. I’m bummed. I guess I’ll have to stock up on shoes.

I haven’t been to Ave this month If you have an Avenue Credit Card are the stores still accepting the card since it’s bank owned?

I just told my mom about this and she went over to Avenu. She said they were pretty cleared out of a lot of stuff already, but the sales person said you can still order online. Stuff was 30% off.

Is their website going to continue operating? Or will the website be shut down as well?

Affordable plus size. Lane Bryant and Torrid are the other popular options but they are more expensive. Sucks man.
