So from my understanding of the ring, you have to pay monthly fees to get access to video footage, right?
Is it still a good thing to have if you don’t pay the monthly fee?

We have just the regular Ring doorbell and it works great. You can pull up the video on your cellphone and it has the audio feature as well.

I have the Ring Video Doorbell 2. It comes with one free year of 24/7 video recording. If you don’t have it, you can still use it anytime, but it won’t store the recordings. You can sign up for a $3 monthly fee that keeps recordings when there is motion. It won’t record 24/7, but will save recording for any motion. For example, I have deer that activate the motion at night and it records them. I like it becuase I know it’s not an intruder.

Do you need fast internet for this? I want to get it but our internet is slow.

    • Jessica

We have pretty fast internet and it still takes a few seconds to pull up the live view. I’m guessing it would be worse with slower internet.

        Thank you!

If you have slow internet don’t bother. We get anywhere from 3-7 mbps, and the ring slows it down to 1-2mbps. Pretty much dial up speed. When people use the ring door bell it will take me 1-2 minutes to pull up on my app who is at the door, and by that time they’re gone.

Thank you! That’s what I thought.
