LOL toys in Target basket

Calling all ToysRUs kids (so… pretty much everyone)!

In what is being called the most epic collaboration of the century, Target is partnering with ToysRUs to ensure that we don’t have to suffer through another Christmas without the most beloved toy retailer of our childhood memories!

As we reported this summer, ToysRUs is planning to open two new physical locations in Houston, TX, and Paramus, NJ before Christmas.

After working closely with Target in an unprecedented partnership, the company took a big step toward making ToysRUs more accessible for everyone by relaunching its website today with a completely new shopping experience.

Toys r Us Website

ToysRUs.com went live today with a new format including news of the latest toy trends and brands, in-depth product reviews, activity ideas, printables, and hot toy lists to help shoppers find the perfect gifts.

You can also purchase toys from ToysRUs.com but do keep in mind that when you click on an item you’d like to buy, you’ll be directed to the product page on Target.com to make the purchase.

Shopping ToysRUs.com through Target means that you’ll get all of the Target.com benefits you’ve come to know and love, like Target Circle savings, 5% off your purchase when you use your Target Red Card, same-day store pick-up, free two-day shipping, same-day delivery with Shipt, and easy in-store returns. I still have a toys r us gift card 😭😭😭. Any chance I’ll be able to use it somehow?

    • Joni

I was thinking the same thing.

    • Katrina

Agree! Overpriced items and dumpy stores.

I like it! Last year I was struggling to find out what the must have toys were. I usually browsed toys r us in the past. It’s difficult to browse on amazon or even target without getting sidetracked. Toys r us biggest downfall was being more expensive than pretty much everywhere else. Now we can get target prices (and pick up) and the recommendations/gift ideas.

I don’t see the point if you’re just getting redirected to Target anyway

    • supersaver

Exactly! So far I haven’t been able to find any “exclusive” toys.

    • Kim

Yeah, I’m confused. Why would I go through the trouble of going to toyrus.com when I can just shop at target?

This is interesting. I had the same thought. Will there be more target toy inventory because TRU is feeding into it and maybe more Target/TRU deals? maybe this is just a stepping stone to help TRU get back on its feet? As it is, many are probably scratching their heads and thinking isn’t it just the same as shopping directly from target online as it’s not yet clear what the benefit is of going through tru website.

        • Valerie

There is not a single toy that target didnt already sell. I could show you 50 toys at least that walmart or amazon sells that target does not and visa versa so it isnt like target just sells a wide variety of toys and there was nothing new that could have been gained. Its a wolf in sheeps clothing. They say your browsing on toys r us and it will be fulfilled by target but really your still just shopping the same items target was already selling regardless. So its two avenues of using the exact same inventory and hopefully gaining a larger market share.

TRU needs to just go away for good.

Toys aren’t marketed the same way they used to be anymore. Before it was word of mouth, nowadays it’s YouTube and the internet creating the buzz of what’s on trend unfortunately, which creates the demand imo, so the lowest online prices will take the sale. It’s no more brand loyalty to any particular store anymore.

The biggest thing about Toys R Us was that no one realized they price matched etc
Every time I said something about price they looked it up and made good on it and then let me use their coupons too
And if a toy broke etc they stood by it
I shopped at several stores too
But New England stores seemed better run than elsewhere from what I hear
And Babies R Us boy do I miss you
The hands on with so many new baby items and our staff was great and showed you how compatible seats etc interchanged etc
Hope this is a trend they will be back

    • Michi

I agree with you. I missed Babies R Us even more than Toys R Us. They were well-organized and had a wide variety of options. Customer service was excellent as well. I really wish Babies R Us was brought back. No other place compares.
