What do they mean by built in Wi-Fi does it mean that it has its own Wi-Fi and can get on the Internet or does it mean that you can give it Wi-Fi from your phone or computer

    • rochellemcgee

It can pull WiFi itself, you don’t need to go through another computer.

Could you by chance share with me the wireless magnetic charging device that you use please!!? I e been looking for alternative routes since my daughters kindle will no longer charge after 6 months of owning it! Thanks so much in advance!

Sorry OT – When does that amazon $5/$20 book coupon usually come out? I tried to do a search but could not find. I thought it was some time in November? Thanks for any help!

    • Nancy

It looks like last year they had one around Thanksgiving. And another in early December.

        Thank you!

Does this include the 2 year free replacement that Amazon offers on its kid tablets sold on Amazon.com?

    • CBethS

It should but I can’t seem to find that in the details. It says “2 year limited warranty.” Usually the kids tablets come with a two year “worry free” warranty.

I would like to know also

I would recommend getting the replacement plan. The fire tablets are great, but we have struggled with the mini usb charging port coming loose so it won’t hold a charge. We have taken a few apart and re-soldered the ports to get them working again, but it seems to be an issue.

We’ve also had issues with the charging port. But with the kids edition it SHOULD come with the two year worry free warranty. I’ve traded my kids in multiple times over the two years. After two years it’s time for the upgraded version (for us) anyway. Especially since we get a great two year out of $55 (one sale when I bought them. )

The charging ports are the absolute worst. I’ve gotten around it by buying magnetic charging cords to minimize having to pull the cord in and out of the port, which is what breaks the weak soldering. Honestly can’t understand after the tens of thousands of complaints about this they haven’t fixed this issue… Our 3 Fire 7s are all approaching 3 years now and (unlike Apple products) do not seem to be having obsolescence issues and work fine for the apps they use. I hate the idea of throwing out perfectly good electronics every other year.

Can someone explain the difference between this and an iPad? My little has an iPad but it is costing us out the wazoo on our cell phone bill.
