I’ve been thinking about getting my kids a Nintendo switch for Christmas. Does anyone have one, and do you recommend it? Thanks!

My 9 year old daughter got one for Christmas last year and loves it. She plays all the Super Mario and Zelda games. We have the original switch versus the lite. She can play on the device or our tv. Games can be expensive but H2S finds us great deals!!

I would recommend it, depending on how many in your family will play you may want to buy additional controllers. Super Mario Party is a great way to play and spend family time together

My 3 kids got a switch as a gift last year and they all enjoy it ages 11,8,4. We have two girls and a boy so it’s really for everyone. We enjoy playing Mario kart as a family or Mario Party. We have carnival games that are easy & fun and our youngest enjoys the paw patrol game. We aren’t big gamers so I don’t know much about other games but it is nice to be able to take on car trips or able to connect through the TV.

Yes I recommend. I got it at Kohl’s for my husband’s birthday and Im not a video game person but I even use it. I got fitness boxing and it’s helped me lose 55 pounds this year! Guess 30 since got game. My daughter is 5 and I’ve noticed how strategic she’s become playing these Mario odessy game and recognition of clues but she only plays with us so maybe that helps her not get addicted and sees it as family event.

Thank you all for your input! You’re the best!

I have one and I would definitely recommend it! Plus another thing to know though is that nintendo is kind of stingy about their systems, so the switch very rarely goes on sale, if at all (I don’t even think it’s gone on sale at all since it released). The best you can look out for is a bundle with a free game or two included. A good deal I saw recently was on walmart.com it was a nintendo switch with a free game included for 329.99$ and the game included was valued at 60$ and was a very good game to. Another good site to look at for video game deals is IGN deals, they post a daily deal page everyday with a lot of electronic deals like computers and video games and such.
Also if you do buy a switch you’re going to want to buy a large micro SD card for it because it has a small amount of storage which is only 32gb, except some of it is already used up so there’s even less. Amazon has Samsung micro sd cards on sale which are perfect to use for the switch. But when you buy a micro SD card you have to make sure it has the right specifications (a high speed SD card) that are right for the switch otherwise the switch wont work well with it. Nintendo has a FAQ about this on their website: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22481/~/microsd-card-faq
I bought a SanDisk 400gb Micro SD card that’s perfect for my switch and plus its a lot cheaper now than it was when I bought it. I’ll link the SanDisk Micro SD card and the Samsung Micro SD cards on amazon:
      SanDisk: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B074RNRM2B/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=micro%2Bsd%2Bcard&qid=1572690221&sr=8-4&th=1

      Samsung: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSDXC-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B072HRDM55/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=micro%2Bsd%2Bcard&qid=1572690221&sr=8-3&th=1

One more thing, if you’re buying for you’r kids, you may want to buy a tempered glass screen protector for it, in case the kids take it with them places so the screen doesn’t get damaged. I’ll link post a link for the screen protector I got for my switch: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N3ASPNV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

      Hope that all helps =)

Some of these games are even cheaper if you happen to have an Amazon Now available in your area. It varies per area though.
I found Pokemon Pikachu for $23 in my area.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Great deal! Thanks for the helpful suggestion!

  3. Marci

Yes! The evee pokemon game was on the kiddo’s Christmas list this year, score for slightly cheaper than $ 60!!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      Yay! That’s one gift done!
