   Oh, geez, I hate to put a damper on a good deal, but will have to do more recent research on this grain-free fur baby food. Wasn’t it bad at one point (about 6 or 7 months ago) to feed our fur babies grain-free food? I think it was the Rachel Ray brand specifically — but grain free is grain free, right?

  Yes, the FDA was investigating the potential link between certain grain free diets and canine dialated cardiomyopathy. I’ve spoke with two different vets and they both had differing opinions. One was adamant a grain free diets should be avoided unless medically necessary, and the other stating they didn’t have concerns with our dog being on grain free dry food as we supplement it with soft food (that contains grains). They also pointed out the initial research was funded by Purina, who stood to gain financially by the results, since the brands of dog foods identified as harmful were their competitors. All this to say, I’m really not sure what the right answer is. 🙂

   Yes, unless your dog has an allergy to grains, they need them. My vet says grain free was a fad to make money.
