I had 4 broken kindles sitting around… was able to trade all 4 in (got $5 each because they were broken… had they not been broken it would have been $10 each), bought a new kindle fire (on sale for $29.99), with the 20% off and the $20 gift card it came to under $8!

    • Bzroses13

Oh and it was all instant; gift card and 20% off… didn’t have to wait for them to receive the trade ins or anything

      • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Nice! Thanks for telling us about your deal, Bzroses13!

I just started my trade in on Wednesday for an HD fire 8. Had an old fire 7 that was broken, shipped it using the Fed-Ex label they provided. They received it on Friday and I had my gift card and 20% off to use today on the new kids version of the 8! Amazon for the win with the trade in option!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Wow, that’s great to hear! Thanks, Shannon0921!

Thank you for letting us know! Going to try the trade in tomorrow. Want to upgrade two kindles – hoping to do it separately and get two 20% codes. Not sure if it’ll work but fingers crossed!

        • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

You are welcome! The terms do say the offer is limited to one per customer and account.

I am not seeing kindle fire listed as a possible trade in. Would love to trade mine in for a paper white. Does anyone know if that is possible??

      • erin

Never mind! I should have looked before posting 🤦🏻‍♀️ a kindle fire can only be traded in for a new kindle fire

I have an old one that’s not broken just old. How do I make sure that absolutely none of my information is accessible?

    • VickiL

      Good question

    • Kasey

Theres a hard factory reset in the settings, it will erase everything, make sure to remove SD card if you have one.

  4. Julie G

Does this work for kids edition kindles (for both trade in AND repurchase)?

    • Kasey

Julie, I traded in my kids outdated kids Kindle and got a regular Kindle, no issues with trading. Also to check all you need to do is pull up your Amazon account go to the tablet you want and below product information they have a drop down box that says “trade in” and it will show you the tablets you can trade in.

      • Julie G.

        Thank you!

I got the $10 credit on my amazon account for my trade in but when I go to pay for my new kindle, the 20% discount is not showing up. Can’t figure out why. Any suggstions?

  6. Mamamia

I did this yesterday. Traded in an old kindle fire tablet and it was replaced with the new one, minus $10 and 20% discount..not sure what qualified for 25% discount,as mine only reflected a 20%

  7. Cyndi

I received my gift card but no discount?? Help, please

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hmm, maybe try contacting customer service. Hoping they may be able to help.
