I just discovered those cookie bags this year. They are HUGE!!! I love them. I’ll definitely have to go grab some at 50% off. They come with a cardboard bottom insert so the bag is sturdy, plus ribbon to tie the bag closed AND a to/from tag. I was very pleasantly surprised.

How cool! Thanks for letting us know how big they are, Allison! Good to know!

My dollar trees in NE Ohio packed up all the Christmas stuff yesterday. Only things that were 50 cents were Christmas candy and Christmas battery things. She said were packing up all the other Christmas stuff and sending it back to dollar tree to be stored till next Christmas.

I was at our Dollar Tree in upstate NY on 12/26. All the Christmas merch, except for wrapping paper, bags and boxes were packed up and gone. They were putting up the Valentines merch.

    • AmyA

Yep. I’m in NE Ohio as well. I went yesterday and there was nothing left but a few gift bags and bows that were shoved in the corner and put on the floor. They were stocking the shelves with Valentine stuff.

    • Marie

I suspect that it is really being placed in the dumpster behind the store.

      • Joni

        They really pack it up!

Several retail stores do it with holiday themed items. As long as it’s not perishable, they can store it & resell it next year. I know that WalGreens does this with many items which is why you rarely see it go on sale or it’s wiped out when the clearance sale comes around.

I went yesterday and also grabbed a handful of the individually wrapped Christmas cards that were on a larger cardboard shipper. They rang up a penny & the mgr came over & said those were recalled & could not be sold. Like really? Christmas cards are recalled?

    • Mell

Was this at the dollar tree?

    • Jean

I actually heard about this…something about them being made by people who are essentially prisoners. One of them made a note saying that they were being mistreated and asked for help.

Went yesterday and nothing, but valentine’s was coming out! Vero beach FL

i went to our local store in eastern pa and was pleasantly surprised by how much merchandise was left. the cashier told me they kept getting shipments and kept putting out inventory. of course on my lunch break i could only grab a handful of things but i will be returning. i got lucky and found the 2 pk of plaster like ornaments for kiddos to paint rang up .01 will surely be looking out for those!

    • lisa

I believe items that ring up .01 are not to be sold so you got lucky

    • Dkp91576

I got cotton candy, rolls of paper and cards for penny. She didn’t look up and didn’t notice the price. I was pleasantly surprised.

Same. Went in Alabama yesterday, no sign of Christmas. Everything was Valentines and Easter.

Went yesterday and my store in Ohio was loaded! Stocked up on bags for .50- all Christmas was .50! People with carts full of stuff- one lady bought all the Xmas coloring books- about 100 of them- she was donating!

  8. Bobbie

Went yesterday in GA, and grabbed lights & holiday scented diffusers all for $.50 each! They were on an ‘end-cap’, off to the side, so I had to look for them–but it was totally worth it. Plus, all the wrapping paper was half off too, so definitely worth stocking up on if you need it. The front aisles were already switched over to Valentine’s Day stuff!

This was the first year I actually found Christmas clearance at my store in OR. Yayy! I am always too late I think LOL I went today and I was able to get lots of gift bags, a few decorations and mini lights, cards and some stuffed toys. Thanks so much for the post which got me to take a look at my store 🙂

I was at a local Dollar Tree yesterday and one of the management staff was taking a collective video of the remaining inventory. Perhaps they had to submit it to headquarters for some purpose. Hmmmm.
I was able to pick a few selective items for my next year’s Xmas needs.
