Want your grocery order on your doorstep in less than 2 hours?

Meet Walmart’s new Express Delivery Service! This new service delivers more than 160,000 items from Walmart’s food, consumables and general merchandise departments to your door in less than 2 hours. This includes groceries, everyday essentials, toys and electronics.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Walmart has accelerated the development of this new service which has been tested in 100 stores since mid-April. The service will now expand to almost 1,000 stores in early May and will be available in nearly 2,000 total stores in the following weeks.

This new service is gonna cost you!

Like Walmart’s other pickup and delivery services, there is no markup on items – an item is priced the same as it is on the shelf. However, this new express service will cost you an extra $10 on top of the existing delivery charge. If you are a Walmart Delivery Unlimited customer, you will pay a $10 fee per Express Delivery.

To see if Express Delivery is offered in your area, follow these steps:

  • Go to walmart.com/grocery or the Walmart app
  • Search your zip code
  • If available, add items to your cart and then at checkout, select Express Delivery.
  • Pay for your order and sit back and wait for your delivery to arrive within two hours – the delivery will be 100% contactless as no money is exchanged at the door.

My husband just waited an hour in the parking lot for our grocery pickup order. I really hope this doesn’t slow down stuff even more 🙁

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I hope not! Hopefully, things will improve as they get used to the new “normal.”

    • Patience

Yes! The last time we did pick up they’re having issues and ended up waiting 4 hours!!!

    • Mkubicz

I did the same thing only to give up and go home. No one could tell me why my order said pending even though it was past the pick up time. 3 days later it still says pending and even after numerous calls to corporate they still haven’t taken the hold off my credit card after they said they could cancel my order. They are a hot mess.

I didn’t know they offered an unlimited delivery service – that’s tempting considering how slow pick up has become these days. Anyone know if they accept tips when they deliver since they don’t accept them when you do a pick up?

    • Jo

They do. After the order is completed there is an option to leave a tip. It defaults to 10% but you can customize it

My family loves the unlimited delivery. If you pay for the yearly payment option, it is worth it if have a delivery twice a month. I have always been happy with the produce selection and freshness of items bought even the meat. Have to be careful on what items you are willing to have substituted if out of stock. There is a box for each items if you want it substituted or not. Can always adjust your initial tip after delivery. They let you know when they are on their way. They are Walmart workers delivering. Well worth not waiting for pick up even if pick up is free.

      • Patience

Door dash does the deliveries in my area. They have to wait in the same pick up lines as the rest of us. I highly doubt this 2 hour service will be in our area, or actually be within the time!

      • Morna

In my area it is a mix of deliverers, Walmart, Door Dash and DDI (I am one of them). The service is super convenient.

    • Denise

I signed up for delivery earlier this year but with the pandemic, you cannot get an order delivered without problems. My last order didn’t arrive so I changed it to pickup, I waited an hour to get them, just to get home and have half the wrong order. Hopefully once this virus settles, it will get back to normal.

so odd cuz everytime i try to order for pickup or express it keep saying no available timeslot for the entire week

but when i go inside there are “pickers” doing it.

so i never got to try this from walmart… drive up pick up from target is awesome though…

    • Lacey

That’s how it is in my area too with Walmart and I love targets pickup just wish you could buy more grocery items with it

    • Rachel

Walmart resets the time slots at midnight. So either go on right after that or super early in the morning if you want a slot. And I recommend an early pickup time, the later ones get more behind and you end up having to wait or they cancel your order.

      • pokz

        Blah!!!! FAKE NEWS!!!! NOT TRUE!!!

What they advertise they offer and what they actually execute is two different things. I finally got the last of my March 7th order delivered today, lol.

  5. Rebecca

If you guys have more than 1 Walmart in your area, try different ones. I have several I could pickup from but have had problems at all of them….until they opened a new Neighborhood Market store. Have had amazing service every time. I haven’t tried express delivery but had groceries delivered from Walmart once. What I noticed was you can’t pick the store (I have 2 that are the exact distance, it went with the worst one😬), the Walmart pickers do the order and an outside company picks it up from the store and delivers it(in my case it was DoorDash actually 🤷), you still get substitutions but I wasn’t notified of them before delivery and you couldn’t really decline one in that situation even if you wanted to.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for all the information on your experience with Walmart delivery service, Rebecca!

If you don’t like what they substitute just go to your online grocery account order history. You should see start a return button. Click that and it will let you select the items you aren’t happy with and refund you the money. Walmart’s process for this is way easier than Kroger. Gotta pull teeth to get your money back from Kroger.

Yeah ok… We did the regular Walmart grocery delivery today for the first time. Our order was set for between 3-4pm est. It is now 7:49 and not only is it not here but we had to call to find out what the delay was. They told me if it wasn’t there by 8pm they will reschedule. They can not even handle what they do now or stick to time frames so I definitely will not pay $10 more to still not get my order in time.

people who are complaining about groceries should realize its pandemic, we should have some patience in this pandemic, walmart workers are also humans, humanity now adays insane.i hope there should be classes on moral values in school so people can have some patience.

    • Tricia

A pandemic has nothing to do with being able to get an order out when promised or even in the same day. If they can’t do it they shouldn’t allow so many orders each day. I am sure you wouldn’t be patient either if your family is out of food and hungry. How about some understanding and kindness?

      • Evie

I have to do a lot of things differently.
I have to shop multiple stores and buy if I see what I need.
        Lots of empty shelves!
I cannot understand why they keep closing grocery stores and hospitals!
I do not care for the new normal of 1/2 and 1/3 of my order delivered.
I do it myself so I can substitute and go to other stores.

Mess up my order twice in one day
