Would you recommend getting La Creuset from the factory outlet or TJ Maxx? Is the quality different or just the aesthetics? Thanks.

The stoneware is known to crack and break overtime and also if you go from hot to cold too fast or vice versa. They just aren’t as forgiving as the french ovens. Just be aware of that and know it may not a forever purchase. In these financial times, I think it is important to only buy what you can afford and not investing in expensive pieces right now. That being said, I really like the Le creuset stoneware I have and like how easy it is to wash as opposed to cleaning pyrex.

FYI- A few years ago I had a Le Creuset baking dish that cracked. I called customer service & was mailed a replacement free of charge. I’m not sure if the policy has changed or not since then, just something to keep in mind.

      • Michelle

Same! A baking dish that I had been using for years cracked in half. I sent customer service a few photos and a brand new replacement showed up at my door. Excellent customer service.

        • nita

          Great to know.

Anyone know the quality of the stockpot? When I ordered, I thought I was getting their top quality classic enamel coated cast iron pots. Turns out that these are enamel coated carbon steel, cheaper, and have a limited warranty. I’m not sure that these are French made either. Will I be happy with it? I was thinking of cancelling my order but it’s too late now.

    • redgoldfish

When checking the manufacturer’s website, it seem that the carbon steel pots are not dishwasher safe, unlike the cast iron ones. Guess I’ll be returning it to Macy’s!
