It says “pay” and sit back in the post. I thought this was free or do you mean pay as if you owed taxes

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yes, pay if you owe taxes. Thanks for asking!

I’m confused about this as well. The headline says free . But then it says “pay”. Can you clarify please

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Li! This just means to pay if you owe taxes. Hoping this helps!

I took it to mean, pay your taxes. Im going to check this out. Thank you!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      That’s correct! You’re welcome, Staci!

FYI–By law, EVERYONE must be allowed to file their taxes for free. Companies like H & R Block will charge you if your income is over a certain threshold. Go to Credit Karma and file free. Period.

      Jo Ann,

By law everyone had the right to file their taxes for free on their own. The IRS provides a list of software programs that allow this. H&R Block charges because they are providing a service outside of the realm of free tax prep, which they are allowed to do by law. You aren’t required to use them, and so they don’t have to file you for free regardless of your income. If you choose to use Credit Karma to file that’s great, especially if you have a simple return, but you won’t get any tax advice, tax planning, or expert help with it. I own a private tax prep firm. There are a lot of people out there who greatly benefit from using a professional tax service and appreciate the value of it. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
