It’s never too early for spooky season! I am ready!

    • Irene (Hip Sidekick)

YESSS! There’s never a “too early” if it’s a holiday/season you love! Thanks, redpixiesparkle!

I’m curious to know what Halloween will be like this. My kids love Halloween, but I can’t see myself letting them go out and trick or treating. I told them I’ll just buy them each their own bag of chocolates. And we’ll so our own thing at home.

    • SkyeF

This came across my mind the other day. I don’t think as many homes will hand out candy because generally it’s your older population handing out the candy. However, kids are less likely to get it and walking from house to house is super easy to social distance. While it won’t look the same as it has, I do think this is the one thing that could be more “normal”.

    • Kim

We’ve talked about this as well. Most people hand out candy face to face. We are going to buy some of the kids favorites and have a movie night instead. I’m sad they will miss out on a fun tradition but even they readily agreed they don’t want to risk it.

    • Big Heart

One of my favorite Halloween memories was at home. Everyone in the family dressed up. We made creative food. We had games and contests.. After we watched movies and ate candy. Was so much fun.

Sad that this year is not gonna be as it should 😔

    • Big Heart

But you can make it just as good if not better!

      • Lisa Hayes

        I’m definitely gonna try ! 👍

  6. WendyBrnn

    We’ll be trick or treating!

  7. Tina Tina

I wonder what trick or treating will be like this year. Seems irresponsible to participate either handing out or doing the trick or treating. Maybe I’ll just put a bowl of candy out. Sad, since Halloween is on Saturday this year.

  8. Scarlet B

I must not buy Halloween candy in July, I must not buy Halloween candy in July, I must not buy Halloween candy in July. Maybe if I repeat it often enough, I’ll convince myself! It was difficult leaving the ghoul mix peanut m&Ms on the shelf today!

    • Irene (Hip Sidekick)

Haha! The struggle is real, Scarlet B. The struggle is real.

  9. Kruiz528

Sorry kids but Halloween is canceled this year

  10. Moedo

My 4 year old has been talking about Halloween for months already! We are “high risk” in our household, so we’re going to do it up at home with a glow in the dark/black light scavenger hunt for candy. Still trying to figure out candy/toy dispersal for any trick or treaters. We’ll probably set something up along the end of the driveway.

  11. Sushi

We bought a piñata & will give our kids a spooky party at home.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      What a fun idea, Sushi!

  12. MarieN

Love the social bubble scavenger hunt, piñata party, and spooky movie night ideas. Maybe letting kids wear their costumes all day? There definitely are ways to enjoy the day safely. Thanks!

  13. Nate

I can’t wait for my kids to get sick after they grab the candy that was just coughed/sneezed on by strangers.

Also, 3 months is too early to promote Halloween.

Trick or Treating is on topic within our subdivisions 1 & 2 whether we should or should not allow it this year and if so, how. Suggestions include:
Set a table at your driveway with treats.
Outdoor trunk & treat and at the end of the trail get a treat bag.
The idea of going door to door was immediately voted out.
Again, this is only for our subdivision, no one else will be allowed to participate. It will also depend on where we are with the virus and of course the weather. At least we’re discussing it.

    • Sara

Putting candy on a table is already pretty common for trick or treating where I live because the weather is usually pretty nice and adults will sit outside talking and watching the kids.

But we have TONS of people drive to our neighborhood from other areas to join the fun. Can’t really keep anyone out unless you live in a gated community.
