The Home Depot is Recalling 100,000 Artificial Christmas Trees Purchased in 2019

Did you purchase a Christmas tree from Home Depot last year?

The Home Depot has just announced the recall of around 100,000 Home Accents Holiday Artificial Christmas Trees due to a potential burn hazard. Sold exclusively at The Home Depot from June to December 2019, the mode-switching foot pedal controllers on these trees can overheat and possibly cause a burn.

Customers are advised to stop using these controllers immediately and request a free replacement pedal from Willis Electric, the manufacturer.

To request your replacement controller, fill out the form here. Shipments will start in September, and delivery is expected to take 1-2 weeks once shipped, so you should have your tree updated and ready for the upcoming holiday season.

    I carried mine back last year after Christmas. The lights would go from white to colored by itself randomly. The lights were also a yellow tone which made the white branches have a yellow tint. The tree itself was beautiful. Are the ones in the store now up to standard? I need a new tree! I wish this tree came in only white lights w/o all the functions. #1004363929 700 lights 1,168 tips anything comparable?

    I just found this post when searching for issues, I had no problems last year when I bought my tree but when I just went to set up my tree it wouldn’t turn on unless I removed the foot controller. It’s stuck on white so hopefully I get a new controller quickly! Thank you for this post or I might not have known!

    I didn’t know about a recall. Bought this tree last year on black Friday, had no issues. I was searching for help because the tree turns on by itself and won’t stay on the all white light setting it keeps changing through all the cycles

    This was the tree (7.5 Braxton LED Color Changing 8 function tree sku # 1004391988) that I bought last Black Friday (Nov 2019). When I took it out of the box it worked, now it no longer works. Please help as my kids are very disappointed.

    I purchased my Christmas tree last December 2019 on Good Friday. None of the lights are currently working at all! I Just found out today about the recall as I was looking to troubleshoot why the lights longer work! I need help ASAP! My grandchildren and I are so disappointed that we won’t have lights on our tree this year!

    I am in same situation. I happen to look up why my tree just turned off for no reason. Had no idea about recall till about 20 min ago. Also bought last year on black friday. Very concerned now about tree just turning off for no reason.

    We got one last year and ours turns on by itself and will change from white to blinking colored lights on it’s own too. Guess we will remove the pedal and see if that fixes it!

    My tree did good last year, but this year it comes on by itself and changes colors without me doing anything. I love the tree, but I do not like it doing this. It scares me.

    We, too, are in the same situation. We purchased our tree December, 2019 and it worked beautifully. Just now set it up and the lights were malfunctioning and the foot control was overheating. Got online and discovered the info on the recall. We have submitted a claim but don’t like that we have to wait 1-2 weeks for the replacement. 🙁

    Same here ,worked fine last year,just put it up for 2020 and lights will not stay lit and remote control will not turn tree on or off. Applied for replacement foot pedal switch although I couldn’t find the requested sku number on the box anywhere Hoping they send replacement before Christmas Day !

      There is a tag on the plug with all the info though it is very small

    Bought mine black friday last year too and only just found out and requested my replacement though I haven’t had any issues (knock on wood) I have a lil one and don’t like having to worry about something going wrong. Disappointed and hope replacement comes sooner rather then later.

    My story is the same as all of the above!! I bought the tree just before Christmas last year and it worked fine. This year within one day of putting up the tree it began flickering and turning the settings off and just turning on in the middle of the night after I thought I turned it off!! Tonight it just completely quit! I just found out about the recall when I went looking for a way to replace the foot pedal and remote!

    I just found out about the recall. We spent most of the holiday season with only white lights on the tree. Yesterday they flashed tro color on their own for 5 hours and now we have no lights.

    I just bought my tree yesterday and after trying and failing to take it out of demo the remote won’t do anything on the tree and the remote app won’t either
    Also the tree comes on by itself
    We unplugged the foot pedal and the tree won’t do anything

    Came home two days ago and said whoops we left the tree on. Two days later the tree turned in and started flashing by itself ( called a paranormal investigator kidding) just realized there’s a recall
