Hey Brian, I bought this rice last year from Amazon and I agree with the review about the smell. There is a definite mustiness to it. Once cooked, I found it fine. It tastes alright. I didn’t find any bigs. But I’d rather just pay a couple dollars more to support my local Indian grocery and get rice that doesn’t have the smell.

I bought this over a year ago for 12.70 and we just finished the bag. No smell then or now. Just a pleasant rice smell. But if they are using the same stock maybe it’s starting to smell? Proper storage is everything with rice.
We use this rice all the time and enjoy it I’ve never noticed a smell, although we usually don’t get it from Amazon….
This is the only rice we buy at my house but we always get it from Costco. Never any problems.
We are partway through a big now. We have no issues! Great price for such a large quantity!
You can freeze the rice in zip locks bags in freezer to avoid smell and bugs. Store it small portion so that when you need you can take out on counter for thawing 6 7 hrs and then fill it in the container. This rice is one of the best Basmati rice.
