Pier 1 Imports store front

Mark your calendars! Pier1.com is returning on September 1st!

The Pier 1 website will be back open for business on September 1st under new ownership! The new owners, Retail Ecommerce Ventures (REV), specialize in revitalizing well-known brands that have struggled in the age of eCommerce.

After declaring bankruptcy in February and with the struggles of the coronavirus pandemic, over 540 Pier 1 locations were forced to close. Liquidation sales are still going at many brick-and-mortar locations.

Although there is no talk of physical locations reopening, owners are steadfast on giving back to Pier 1’s loyal customers by creating a better online shopping experience with the unique and quality items that are signature to the Pier 1 Imports we know and love.

So be sure to head to Pier1.com beginning September 1st, and fill your basket with their one-of-a-kind home goods. Come back and let us know what you think of their new site!

Odd. I literally don’t know anyone who shops at Pier 1. There’s a store closing by me and has been for months and everything is still ridiculously priced.

    • ccmama

I agree. I stoped shopping there years ago. It’s over priced China crap

    • Mandy Hashemi

I absolutely agree with you. Went in there when it was 80% off and even then I felt I can get this for much less for same quality.

My daughter and I went in to shop when it was going out of business. The candles were 15% off but were reticketed 15% more than original price. You could peel the sale ticket off and the original was underneath. Rip off!

Early 2000’s I loved this store. But prices went up and quality and cuteness went down down down.

    • firstladyml@aol.com

I totally agree with you . It so overpriced now

    • PrincessMom

Exactly!! I haven’t set foot in a store in probably ten years. To be fair, though, I really stopped shopping there much at all around 2000. They used to have clothes that I LOVED but then stopped carrying them in the late 90s.

I have never shopped there. I don’t know if it’s good or bad.

I used to loooove Pier 1. But as stated above that was years ago. Even their clearance selection is outrageously priced. I’ve also noticed that most of their clearance isn’t even that great. As opposed to most stores that clearance stagnant items or last years styles etc…most of Pier 1s clearance is broken, chipped, ripped or even stained things. I’ve been to multiple locations and noticed that. Such a turn off. Their everyday prices are astronomical and eye popping. I remember talking to my bestie a few yrs ago about the fact they were still even in business. I guess they were holding on a that point. No loss in my book.

I was wondering if this would happen. I started the La Bien ornament collection 2 years ago and was saddened at the thought of not being able to continue! I do hope this online venture will give us MORE value, MORE choices and MORE beautiful seasonal items P1 was famously known for at one time!!!

  6. ienotaryservices

I agree they’re ridiculously price even with their closing stores “discounts” hopefully the online prices and quality are better

  7. Carolina

They always were ridiculous expensive but this is only the consumers fault for buying their items. This world is crazy!!! They sell a shoe bench for over $300 and ever crazier is that the item is SOLD OUT!!!

It’s so wrong that the “previous owners” can file for bankruptcy, get their debts forgiven, and can change their legal details so they can reopen under the same name and start fresh! The “new owners” should atleast be required to use a different name! Or the new owners should have to pay the people and companies that provided good and services that were not paid if they are going to utilize the value of the previous branding! Gander Mountain just did the same thing – closed down for a few months, claimed bankruptcy and did not have to pay all existing debts, and reopened as Gander Outdoors! I know i’m on a soapbox now, but feel like all the owners should have to be new AND the new company should have to be new if bankruptcy accommodations are given!

Congress sets the bankruptcy laws. Loopholes tend to exist because they and their campaign donors benefit from them. Campaign finance reports can be very interesting to read.

I lost my job about a year ago due to this type of transaction. In my experience the new owners are not related in any way to the former owners. They purchase the name and email/mailing lists and any intellectual properties. The money that is used to purchase the company goes towards the bankruptcy to help pay down the debts. I would encourage people to give the new Pier1 at least a peek. Things may be different!

    thanks mj! i’m so naive.

I agree with everyone who said prices have climbed while quality plummeted. I also chose not to support companies that file bankruptcy, fire all of their hardworking employees to reopen online only without them.

    • Sarah

It is not the same owners.

  11. Jan

Well checking their new website, most things are marked sold out! Why even have them on the site? Disappointed.

  12. Sherry Scalia

The new Pier1 is NOT the same. It looks like crap you would buy on oriental trading company but more expensive. I am a long time pier1 customer, but no more. The old owners are crooks. They sold gift cards knowing they had filed for bankruptcy and that the gift cards would be worthless is a few months. The ‘new’ owners obviously know nothing about the type of merchandise that the true Pier1 customer would buy. I’ll shop at world market from now on. Bye Pier1! You should have changed the name to Pier2 Discount Store with the tag line “Where you can find discount quality merchandise without the discount price.”

  13. 2321

I agree. The new website is NOT the same. The quality is horrible and the prices are outrageous. I feel like I am looking on a discounted website. The website looks cheap.

  14. sharonhe

Does Pier 1 have ANY physical locations open? I can’t find any, but I have a merchandise credit that maybe someone can use.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

There are no longer physical locations. It’s all online now.

  15. Amanda

Best reed diffusers in the market that I have purchased. Have dogs so lighting candles is not an option for me. Island Orchard in the rooms on one end of the house and Cuban Vanilla in the other. I would always stock up with my 20% off coupon. Priced just slightly higher than Target but worth it to me. Will be purchasing online when my inventory runs low. 🙂

  16. Lacey

I have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars here on things for my home and my family members homes before it changed hands. I am in shock that they have came back with such cheap looking products marked 10 times higher than it should be. It is no longer unique and high quality products! So pissed about it all!
