Walmart+ Program w/ Free Delivery, Fuel Discounts & More Now Available
Walmart is ready to compete with Amazon Prime!
Walmart has launched their all new Walmart+ membership! Walmart+ members will have access to tons of great benefits – all for just $98/year, which is $21/year less than Amazon Prime’s yearly membership. And Walmart says the list will continue to grow over time!
AND you can score a FREE 15-day trial to test out this service before you commit!
Benefits to look forward to with Walmart+…
1. Unlimited FREE Grocery Delivery
Walmart+ Members score unlimited free delivery on orders over $35, with delivery as early as the same day.AND, you’ll pay the same low prices you’d pay in-store on more than 160,000 items from household essentials and groceries to tech and toys. No price mark-ups like you see in Instacart or other apps!
These are the same benefits that were offered through their Delivery Unlimited program. Delivery Unlimited subscribers become Walmart+ members automatically.
Keep in mind that you’ll still be able to choose Walmart’s free curbside pickup, NextDay delivery, and two-day delivery.
2. Scan & Go in the Walmart app for faster ways to shop in-store.
If you love the Scan & Go feature at Sam’s, then this perk will be one of your faves! While shopping in-store, you’ll be able to scan your items as you shop and pay using Walmart Pay through the Walmart app for a quick, easy, touch-free payment experience. No lines at the checkout!
3. Discounts on fuel at nearly 2,000 gas stations.
In addition, you will start to save up to 5 cents per gallon at nearly 2,000 Walmart, Murphy USA, and Murphy Express fuel stations. Plus, Walmart will be adding Sam’s Club fuel stations to this lineup soon. If that discount stacks with the discount for Sam’s Club members, an extra 5¢ savings per gallon could really add up!
With these benefits, we’re sure that Walmart+ will be making your shopping experience a lot more convenient while also saving you money. Be sure to share your thoughts and let us know if you’ll be trying this service!
I am slightly confused. Will groceries be included? Perishable groceries?
I saw this on tv first and then I read what is posted here. I looked at my husband and asked him to explain the difference in service now too what benefits would we get that are different? He was just as stumped as I was.
Yes, fresh groceries, meat, and more are part of their current Delivery Unlimited Program. This new Walmart+ is supposed to offer all that, plus let you shop toys, tech, household supplies, and more – all with as soon as same day delivery.
I signed up for the free 15-day trial to Delivery Unlimited and I was able to add frozen goods, fresh fruit, and lots of other perishables.
This does not compare at all to Amazon Prime. I see no value with this. Free shipping? Curbside pickup? I can do that already. Discounted gas? There are no Walmarts near me that have gas stations. Amazon has nothing to fear.
i agree – amazon prime i would pay extra for – i love the tv portion waaaayy too much – fast ship is nice.
Amazon does not deliver any fresh groceries where I live, just what you order from their warehouses and get delivered by UPS or USPS.
But Walmart doesn’t deliver in my area, either, so I won’t be using Walmart + , either lol
I was thinking the same and as far as prime a lot of the shows you have to pay for now but for $19 extra a year at least you get access to movies and shows.
I agree 100%. It’s like comparing apples and oranges.
I agree. We currently have a grocery store that offers scan & go for free. They also have a fuel program as well. Also, our Walmart is all self checkouts except for maybe 2 or 3 with an actual cashier. So you are still scanning them all yourself. Lol Plus, Amazon prime is free shipping on most items unlike where it appears you have to spend $35 here. They also offer a streaming service as well. I’d never use the delivery service let alone pay for it.
Unless they add streaming service, music service and more items than just curbside pickup allows I’ll pass. For $100 🤦🏻♀️
Doubt they will. Walmart owned streaming service, Vudu, but recently sold it to Fandango.
Agreed
Nothing new and wowee here. Pass!!
I would love this if my Walmart will start delivering. So far, they don’t. I’d pay the $100, AND still keep my Prime, because Amazon doesn’t deliver fresh groceries, either.
The only benefit I see to this is the scan and go feature and I’m definitely not paying $100 just for that. I can already get free two day shipping and curbside pickup and I have a Sam’s membership already for the gas so it’s pretty pointless. Definitely keeping my Amazon prime though!
Amazon wants to start drone delivering. Walmart is way behind when this starts!
If it were less money I’d get it just to be able to scan and pay with my phone. Not standing in long lines would be worth it.
You can already do this. Or used to be able to— for free. One day, I got to check out and started scanning groceries at self-checkout. Realized then that my husband had the wallet in the car. Rather than going out, I Saw the option to pay with qr. I opened my Walmart app and saw Option to pay with cc saved in Walmart account. Just scanned QR code in my app. It worked!
Yup, anyone can use walmart pay. And, Funny, I found that out almost the same way you did! I forgot my wallet at home!
The Scan & Go will be a little more like Sam’s though where you don’t even go to a register. You scan your items as you shop, check out on your phone, and head straight to the door. It’s one of my fave things about Sam’s Club for sure.
The scan & go won’t be for all items, unlike Sam’s..
ugh, that would be a huge bummer!
I will definitely be doing this. Amazon doesn’t deliver fresh food where I live and I hate going into the store during a pandemic. I do curbside pickup but sometimes end up waiting 20 minutes for them to bring out my groceries, on top of the travel time to and fro. This would be a huge time saver for me. In addition, Walmart’s return policy is waaaay better than Amazon. I can return things to Walmart without a receipt, six months down the line. Amazon only gives you 30 days. I’m stoked!
Do I have to wait to sign up for this until September 15th or if I sign up for Walmart Delivery will it automatically change over to plus?
Do you still need to select a delivery slot? The problem i had in part due to the pandemic was that spots for delivery were not readily available. I had the free trial and had very little access to spots for food delivery. It would stink to pay and not get dekivery of food as desired when needed or have to wait a week.
There was a time early in the pandemic where it was difficult to get a delivery slot. However that seems to have gone back to normal now, at least where I live it has. I think they had such an influx in the number of customers for delivery they had to make some adjustments to catch up. We couldn’t even get Amazon grocery delivery then, with Walmart I just needed to order well ahead of time and I found there were certain times of the day that I could get in to set up delivery with no problem. That all seems to have settled back to normal now. For my family it’s worth the yearly delivery subscription but we have unique circumstances and really need the delivery. Amazon’s Whole Foods prices are higher on the things we buy – I’d be paying more than $99 a year if we exclusively used Amazon for food delivery. I don’t see much additional value that we’ll use in this + membership, but I already have the delivery subscription so anything they add that I might end up using I guess is just a bonus.
I’m glad that there are options becoming more widely available for families and individuals who need these types of services. Many people don’t realize that just going to the store isn’t easy or feasible for some. I honestly don’t really like that we need to use Walmart or Amazon, but we have to because of unique circumstances in our family, regular shopping hasn’t been an option for us for quite awhile. Expanding services is something that might help others in ways we don’t think about unless they’re something that we utilize.
With Walmart grocery delivery, are you expected to tip? Or is the yearly fee all you pay?
You definitely should still tip
Who will be delivering the packages?
