American Girl’s Newest Doll is from the 80s & We Think That’s Totally Rad
American Girl’s latest “historical girl” is from the 1980s!
American Girl just released its newest doll! Courtney Moore is a totally rad 80s girl who brings that iconic decade back to life for millions of fans and parents.
Courtney’s outfit is straight out of the 80s, including an acid-wash denim skirt, an off-the-shoulder crop top that can be layered over the included tank top, and more. There’s even a fun scrunchie to put her hair up in a high side pony!
Since this is a new release, there aren’t any current sales, but if you just can’t say no to introducing your kiddos to the 80s, the American Girl Courtney Doll + book are currently priced at $110. You can score one online now, or on September 25th if you prefer to shop in-store.
There are also a few accessories available that you might remember, including a mini Caboodle, fanny pack, Care Bears sleep over set, boom box, and more. And for entertainment there’s a working arcade-style Pac-Man game so your kiddos can replicate all those days hanging out at the arcade.
Courtney’s all about the tubular pop culture of the 80s including her sky-high hair, neon-colored fashions, music television, and playing Pac-Man inside the arcade at a local shopping mall. She looks up to the astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger and lives with her blended family. Her mom is running for Mayor!
Courtney looks to real-life heroes—like her mom —as inspiration to invent a female superhero who’s bold, brave, and gives Courtney the courage to speak up for the people and ideas she believes in.
She is adorable! I love the 80’s!😀
Same! In fact, I wore some of those outfits!
Love it!!!!
That Pac-man arcade game! 😍
I know! So many memories!
who wants to buy this doll for me haha i’m 43 and I need her care bear accessories too. LOVE IT! (also scrunchies have never gone out of style i’ve rocked one nearly everyday my entire life haha)
They are just so nostalgic and fun!
AG is clearly marketing this to moms who grew up in the 80s and 90s who now have daughters of their own 😂 she needs a mini cabbage patch doll and I’d be sold on it!
Hahahaha! So true!
Kirsten was my favorite!! 🤣
If they want to market to THIS child of the ‘80’s/90’s who grew up reading the AG books, I have three words for them: BRING BACK KIRSTEN!
Honestly I find the non-historical characters a bit obnoxious, even though I’ve now purchased two out of “I never got one of these so I want my daughter to have them” mom-guilt.
And a My Little Pony! I had like 50 of them back then lol
YES!! The same week we brought our daughter home from the hospital, I was on eBay buying her a NIB Cabbage Patch doll from 1983 because that was the year I got my first CPK! lol
Love this!
Love it! I’m 40 and want this doll! 😬
I hope they make a knock off version bc I’d never pay that amount for a doll.
My girls would love it though..
It is super cute but I’m not paying $110+ for it. We got our AG doll and genuine AG accessories and clothes at garage sales. My daughter wanted a AG wellie wisher and I used Kohl’s cash to bring the price of that doll down. They are nice dolls but not worth the price. She plays with her generic dolls from Walmart and one I picked up from toys r us when they went out of business just as much. All of them have held up. The details look better on the AG and all but at the end of the day, she plays them all the same and I’m not sold on the price.
Oh wow! I want this for myself 🤣
Is she wearing Pepe, Z cavaricci, or Guess jeans?!? Ahhhh, these bring me back! Who tight rolled their jeans AND they stayed ALL day????
Oh my gosh I had forgotten the tight rolling of the jeans and z cavaricci!!!!!! How about the big fluffy scrunchy socks lol
OMG layering two different color socks!! Wow, I’d forgotten about that! lol
We called that the “french roll” lol We also all had Sebago shoes and did the barrel knot to the laces.
Pegged jeans all day every day!!
OH NO! When did my birth decade become long enough to be “historical?”
I think her bangs should be higher and her hair in the ponytail should be crimped. LOL
Yeah but all that Aqua Net and heat damage would not be good for the doll’s hair!
Born in 1971 here and this doll is ALL GenX!! Although, she is more like 82-84 than 86, but oh well. My daughter’s AG dolls have been packed away for a couple of years now, so this one is for me!! She really should have been named a Jennifer or Michelle or Kimberly or Amy… 😉
JENNIFER here🤣Hahahaha!!!!! Or, Beth or Erica!!!!! Seriously, this post has “Like totally” made my day!
Yes, to the rolled socks and barrel knot Eastlands shoes! Who had a bomber jacket, Esprit bag, jellie shoes…. the list goes on and on!!!!!!
Thanks for the nostalgia ladies…loving it!!!!!!
Espirit bags!!!! LOVED my Espirit bag.
Esprit*
YES!!! Definitely should have been named Jennifer. I can’t tell you how many of them were always in my classes! LOL
But did you see you can buy your 1980s American Girl Courtney doll a 1980s Molly with book and a mini version of the catalogue with all the AG things Courtney wants circled?!?! Well played, Mattel. That hit all the nostalgia points for me remembering when I got my Samantha when she first came out. Just take my wallet.
Is there anywhere I can shop for AG Dolls + accessories, other than Wellie Wishers , w/o going to AG Store ? Like stores that most anyone can get to w/o going to “Big City” , trip ? I just got Courtney and would love to shop for accessories, NOT online … I ALMOST want to make her some outfits , myself . I grew up + graduated HS in 89′ .
She definitely not 80’s , Enough ! You Dig ? But , Love her ! Anyonee know if the dolls are also sold anywhere else ?
THANX ,
AG Step-Grandma Mom Lover !
