Bought produce from Walmart recently?

The Food and Drug Administration has announced that Country Fresh is voluntarily recalling various containers of “Freshness Guaranteed” pre-cut and packaged apples, grapes, mangos, pineapples, and cantaloupe sold at Walmart in nine states.

The recall is a precautionary measure due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes detected on equipment used in an area near where these products are packaged.

The affected products were shipped to various Walmart distribution centers that sent them to Walmart supercenters in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Containers involved in the recall have “best if used by” dates from October 3rd, 2020 to October 11th, 2020. A full list of the products in question can be found on the FDA’s website.

Although Country Fresh has not yet received any reports of individuals getting sick from eating their products, Listeria can cause harmful, sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Listeria symptoms include fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

Walmart has removed these items from their shelves, and anyone who purchased these products from the locations in question is asked to dispose of them safely or return them to the store for a refund. Consumers with additional questions and concerns can contact Country Fresh customer service directly at 1-877-251-8300. They will be available to answer questions Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM CST.

The pre cut fruit is so expensive. I don’t understand why people buy it

I agree, but it’s useful if you’re on vacation or traveling or if pre-packaged goods are required for school, etc.

Because some people are lazy! 🙂

I’m far from lazy but I’ve bought it. Instead of getting fast food I’ll run into a store and make a salad and grab fruit. Sure it is cheaper to buy a whole watermelon but I have no way to cut it at work. And it’s healthier than Chick Fil A (not bashing it because I did enjoy it occasionally).

Exactly, I agree. I’m not lazy and getting cut fruit is a way better alternative and more convenient than cutting a watermelon at work or fast food.

It’s nice if you live alone and will never finish the whole fruit before it goes bad. Also, some fruit is difficult to cut which can be challenging for those with different physical conditions. I’ve found that the pre-cut fruit is more expensive at chain supermarkets/grocery stores but the smaller independent local grocery stores by me often have good prices on it.

Not everyone can cut fruit or other items that might be difficult to cut. Just because others do something differently doesn’t mean they are lazy.

The cut up stuff is sometimes cheaper than a whole watermelon. Giant often has huge containers B1G1 free! I hate cutting a watermelon, will mostly buy a half.
But even fruit like unpeeled lemons and unpeeled onions have been recalled.
Very strange. After this, our prices go up ! We even have to pay civic fees! When will the people responsible have to pay!
