Has anyone purchased the heated kitty house and have any comments on how well it works?

    • jenlynn

I bought a heated on that looks like the main picture. They are outdoor cats but just used it as a litter box🙄. It did get warm but not as much as I had hoped.

      • skateman1sgirl

Yes! My cat loved it! It’ll heat warmer once cat is on it. The removable doors helps keep warmth in. It’s padded for insulation. Gave to my neighbor last year after cat passed.

    • CG

My cat got in after a while investigating and hasn’t left! He loves it. It get’s warm when he lays on it.

  2. Chris Cooper

Please keep your cats indoors! It’s for their safety. 🙂

    • Casey

I agree, however I TNR ferals as well.

      • Lori

We also TNR ferals. Just bought this for them. Hope they use it!

    • Kathleen

Not all cats thrive as indoor cats 😥

  3. Roxy

I am wondering the same thing. I have a feral cat that we feed. She loves the outdoors, however, we want to provide more shelter to her. Has anyone used this type of house?

    • Casey

Yes! We have a few of these and our ferals that we TNR use them. At first we had to keep the flaps off, but now they use them with the flaps. The heating pad has a washable cover, too.

    • Gwenn

This house does get warm enough with the cat inside. The only problem with it is that it gets wet and penetrates the material. If you use this, then place something over it to keep it dry or keep it in a covered location. I gave up on this house, and bought their outdoor heating pad and put that inside of a Styrofoam container. I then placed the the heated Styrofoam inside a large Rubbermaid container to keep it weatherproof for my feral cats.

Thank you for posting this! I have a feral cat that I feed and I’ve fallen in love with. I made an insulated house for him but he doesn’t want to go inside. This was the next step…a heated outdoor house. I’m hoping he’ll love it! What a great deal!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Aww, You’re so welcome! I hope so too! 💕

  5. Bri

I just bought this same one on Amazon for 30.00 🙂 im not sure if its still on sale though. My grandma takes care of an outdoor stray cat. I bought this and had it shipped to her home.

    • Kim J

I just checked and it is priced at $55.66 presently!

  6. Sallys

I got a heated one, just like the one shown from amazon in the fall for $53. My feral kitty did not seem to like it, but now that it is cold she uses it all night long. I am really happy with it. I also got one for my MOL she has an outdoor cat and her cat took to it right away. It seemed expensive but I am keeping it in a protected area (protected from weather) so it lasts for many years. I had to take the doors off (they velcro off) for her to go inside, when it gets colder I plan to velcro one of the doors back on.

  7. Sallys

Also came to say I see they sell just the heated pad for replacement, or if you build your own house.

  8. Jewel

We have a feral cat that we feed. Do these shelters stay dry? We don’t have a covered area, kitty lives under a few of our trees. Also, would love to hear how some of you trap them? We’ve been feeding this one for 6 months and he still wont let us near him, hisses and has swatted at me.

    • Jewel

we’d like to have him fixed

      • Lisa

I love hearing that so many people are taking care of community cats! Jewel, you can find lots of info about trapping cats for trap-neuter-release at alleycat.org. They also have a Feral Friends network where you can find individuals and organizations in your area that are involved in helping ferals.https://www.alleycat.org/our-work/feral-friends-network/feral-friends-network-connect/ The shelter I volunteer at lends traps and we also have volunteers who assist community members with trapping. I volunteer at our community cat spay/neuter programs, where the surgery is free and the cats also get all their vaccinations, flea treatment, and are microchipped. They will also ear tip the cats so it can be identified that they have been sterilized.Hope this helps!

        • Jewel

          Thank you, Lisa!

    • Kim C

Not sure where you live but in Florida you can rent traps from the humane society. You would not feed the cat and put the food inside the trap. Cat walks in, steps on a plate that causes the door to close. Please try to get him fixed to help stop the feral cat problem.

      • Jewel

Thank you, Kim! I think he would go in. He often waits at our backdoor if he thinks it’s time for food, even though we don’t feed him close to the house. We have a huge problem here with no animal control/humane society within 20 miles. I’m willing to make a drive to get a trap, thanks!

  10. lmeyer4718

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for letting us know! It seems the additional discounts no longer apply. We’ll get this updated!
