My typical workout week usually looks like this:
– 2 interval stair master sessions/week (30-second high-speed sprints, 1-2 minutes of low-speed walking for about 15-25 minutes total, but start with less time if needed–intensity is more important than duration with this as it really helps increase endurance and stamina that make strength training easier.)
-2-3 strength training/lifting workouts that usually last about 40-60 minutes. I focus on one muscle group at a time so that could look like shoulders, biceps, and triceps on a Monday and legs/glutes on Wednesday. As far as staying motivated, it’s not always easy but the thing that keeps me going more than anything is how centered and in-tune I feel with myself as a whole when I make time for exercise. It also is such a huge stress reliever for me! I try to go into every workout with the goal of connecting with my body, listening to it, and honoring it through exercise. If I have a mentality of it being a chore or being mad that my body doesn’t look the way I want it to, I’ll dread the whole thing lol! My kids motivate me too because I want to be moving and grooving and chasing them around with all the energy for as long as I can!
Hopefully this helps and remember – you and your body are AWESOME, regardless of where you’re at in your journey. Start with things that feel comfortable for you and you’ll likely start to enjoy them more and more with a little consistency!
