Oh cool! Thanks for sharing your finds! I have added those to the post!
I consider myself an adequate cook/baker, but I found that many of the recipes are quite difficult or have weird ingredients. Just FYI. It wasn’t quite as simple as, hey, let’s look up a recipe and make it on the spot before we watch a movie. The book is SUPER cute though. It’s a great gift in theory for a HP-lover, but perhaps not in actual use.
Thanks for the warning, Betsy! Good to know!
I agree. I bought it and haven’t made one thing because everything seems so complicated.
I bought it for my daughter for her Harry Potter Birthday Week (because of Covid we did an at home week of Harry Potter). Anyway, I cooked a Harry Potter themed meal every day for a week and I agree they are complicated. I did use it for ideas (it will tell you the chapter and sometimes a quote where the dish was eaten or mentioned in the book) but I would go find easier recipes after getting the idea from the book. I did make fried tomatoes from the book but they turned out awful lol My daughter loved reading it though, she’s read through it twice now (she’s 8) so she enjoys it.
Oh shoot. I just gave this book to the neighbors kids who are only 8 and 11 a few days ago since they are big Harry Potter fans and they’re always baking. Ratings on Amazon got me 😕
This has the best apple pie recipe! I bake and cook A LOT so if you want, here are my tips: use jazz apples and add lemon until the mixtures tastes nice and bright!!
Thanks for taking the time to share your tips with us, Jill!
I agree the Potter cookbook recipes are complicated. We made Cauldron cakes (which are just pancakes) from it for breakfast one day. My recipe from Allrecipes is much easier. But fun gift for a grown up Potter head like me.
