I thought paper products were only recyclable if they were not stained with food – at least per our local recycling guidelines. From that standpoint these are potentially recyclable, if your sandwiches are dry. And no different from generic paper sandwich bags.
It may depend on your area. Mine has the same stipulations about food contamination. I could see these being used for dry items like chips/crackers as well.
It for sure depends where you are but the packaging is misleading. The bag alone can be recycled but once you add the sticker you can’t recycle it. Plus the addition of food knocks out many recycling services. Where I am my recycling center wouldn’t accept this however the compost service I use would without the sticker. The compost company accepts paper items with food on them, even cooked and oily items. 🙂
I think a more accurate description would be they are compostable because they do not have the wax coating.
If there is no wax coating do they keep your sandwich from getting dried out? Or keep your items from coming out? Anyone tried these? Does the sticker do much to keep chip crumbs, etc. or pb&j from leaking through or from coming out? The sticker looks kind of small. If all it is is paper, couldn’t you use paper like the deli does with a piece of tape? I guess I’m skeptical that these are worth it since I don’t know what they cost…..didn’t even know Ziploc had these…
Duh, price on the top….sorry, it’s late….
Recycling in general is misleading. Most of what we recycle in the US unfortunately is not recycled. China has put a strict ban on recycling which makes it impossible for most country’s to achieve what they are asking.
Either way these are better than using plastic zip lock bags. I bought some. Thanks!
