The Queens Gambit Kindle Edition

The Queen’s Gambit follows orphan Beth Harmon, an unsuspecting chess prodigy that discovers her skills at a very young age. By sixteen, she’s competing for the U.S. Open championship while battling a secret addiction to her foster mother’s tranquilizer pills for a fast-paced thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Here are just a couple of noteworthy reviews…

I had just binge-watched the Netflix series. It was absorbing and brilliant. And for some reason, I decided to get the book and read it. I loved the book even more. I don’t play chess. I know the board and the chessmen and how they work from playing a few games when I was a kid. Even so, I was mesmerized by the “dance” on the board. The mental tension and the way it was described. Loved it. Great read.

I was thrilled by the Netflix series and thought the book would be just as good, with a bit more detail. It was better! I found the book even more exciting and more satisfying because the reader learns what Beth is thinking, and how she’s feeling. She matures more fully and is a richer, more complete figure. The serious chess player is able to see the games more completely, but even those without chess experience will get caught up in the excitement.

One of the best books I’ve ever read. I am watching the show for a second time after reading it.

The series was fabulous, although slow in spots, I couldn’t get enough to know what the next move was!
