Hip2Save Sidekick Sara has been using Follain! Check out her thoughts…
“I was really excited to mix up my skincare routine and try these products. Before getting them I had such a simple routine washing with soap and moisturizing with coconut oil because my skin is so sensitive – that’s what works for me, but I was ready for a change. I’m really excited about these products because the ingredients are clean and suitable for sensitive skin. Two weeks into my new skincare routine I can confidently say these are working so great for me!”

Follain Moisturizer: Replenish + Protect $32
Use promo code HIPSKIN20 (20% off)
Final cost $25.60!
This moisturizer deeply hydrates your skin while also working to smooth fine lines and wrinkles using Bakuchiol which is a plant-derived alternative to retinol. It also protects your skin with antioxidants. It is a fast-absorbing moisturizer and is lightly scented with Bulgarian Rosewater.
I was hesitant to try a new moisturizer because I never have great luck with them – they either clog my pores or make my skin oily or dry, but this one has been working so great! I also feel like I’m using less makeup since it hydrates my skin so well which is a savings and a huge bonus!

Ran the Follain Moisturizer: Replenish + Protect through the CosDNA and it came back with many ingredients high on acne-causing potential: cocos Nucifera oil, theobroma cacao seed butter, tocopherol, Simmondsia Chinensis seed oil, and then those sensitive to squalane of course. Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Extract is highly unnecessary and is often recommended by derms to be avoided in skincare products. It can cause already sensitive skin to be more sensitive and cause photosensitivity on exposure to sunlight. Which is likely why CosDNA gave it a safety warning number. It also changes the PH of your skin which really you don’t need to do. You should look to balance the PH of your skin. Which brings me to why this moisturizer needs to add in SEVERAL PH adjusters just to rebalance it. Sodium Hydroxide – used to balance the PH – can actually damage your skin. Also why it has a safety warning number. It wouldn’t be necessary likely if it didn’t use other unnecessary ingredients they cause inbalances. Meh, There are better, cleaner products on the market in the same price range and even cheaper.
Glad you liked it though!
Hi ivy,
Thank you for posting your findings. What do you think about The Ordinary skincare line?
I don’t have sensitive skin or acne prone skin, but I would like to switch to products without the harmful and unnecessary ingredients. TIA!
The Ordinary Has some really good items and it has some not-so-great items. The Niacinamide has been a cult fav for a while, however lately it’s been receiving a lot of negativity due to piling. Something in the formulation has changed. Other cult favs from The Ordinary are the AHA/BHA Peel, Lactic Acid, Rose Hip Seed Oil, Buffet, and Retinol 1% in Squalane. Dr. Davin Lim, Dermatologist in Australia, talks about The Ordinary frequently. Some similar brands to look into are also the Inkey List and Paula’s Choice.
Thank you, Ivy.
