My cvs manager said it needs to be rang out separately from all other purchases whether you are doing self checkout or not. There are issues with the freebie coupons. He was absolutely right, too.

At my store, you have to purchase something else that requires you to pay out of pocket along with it, the system won’t let you get it for free according to the manager. Not so free afterall 😐. I got the free popcorn and a $1.32 clearance box of Total Home zipper snack bags, to use the $1 ECB, I got on my last trip. That gave me another $1 ECB. I’ve been getting them, for I don’t know what, over the last few weeks. Is this something they’re doing now? Not that I’m complaining, because who doesn’t like free money…
ECBs have been around for a while; that’s why I like my CVS. card so much. 😎
Not free for me. I ended up paying 2.99 for it. I also bought 40 dollars worth of other things. No big deal, but these free CVS items never come out to be free, it’s irritating. I’m done trying to get my free items with CVS, they need to fix this issue. It never works for me.

To get the free item you have to put it on your card, through the app. I never have a problem. Have also used the self serve without a problem.
You do not have to buy other items. I would definately call and complain if I did!
I got mine last night and bought nothing else. There were only 3 bags left. It is a joke that CVS does not stock up on the free items.
I don’t have the coupon on my card.
