If you use Walgreens Cash Rewards to purchase can you still get cash rewards back? TIA

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yes, that will work for you on unit offers such as those listed in the first deal idea above.

  2. John

The Walgreens Big Roll toilet paper is a much better value if you like the 1000 single sheet kind. It’s also 20% off with the SCHOOL20 promo code, or 40 cents per roll (when you buy 10 individual rolls or 2 4-packs). The Scott pack is only 176 1-ply 12 packs, or 2112 sheets for $3. Big Roll 2 4-packs are $3.20 for 8000 sheets, less than one-third the price.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the helpful suggestion, John!

    • Roro55

Thank you for sharing this. I been looking to stock up on this type of tp. 🙂

    • Pat

For the life of me, I cannot see why anyone would like the 1 ply Scott, it’s so thin you an see through it! I bought it once, never again, couldn’t wait until that package was gone.

  3. Ann

SCHOOL20 is not working on the Scott products.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

DARN! I do find it to apply to the Scott Comfort Plus Toilet paper as shown above. Hoping this helps!

Problem is that Walgreen’s is nearly always out of everything that’s on sale. Even when you order online and think that you’re all set, they end up cancelling your order. To me it’s not worth spending an hour or more adding the items to my cart, clipping all the coupons, searching for the deals, etc. only to get nothing in the end. This happened to me the other day and after that I’ll never shop at Walgreens again.

    • JD827

I do ship to store or ship to home when I have a complicated deal . Sometimes I will do it on a small item just to get the 25% off bar code on full priced items that comes in the pickup email. You might give that a try. Corporate made the decision several years ago to go with a “just in time” inventory so stores don’t have a large backup. It has hurt them in a pandemic world. I agree with you.

    • riss

I did the scenario, minus the children’s toothpaste (OOS) and kotex- opted for pantiliners instead, so my total was higher. Went to check out, crest and el vive shampoo is already out of stock for pick up.
      BTW, rakuten has 4% rebate

    • AnneS

And when they cancel your order your coupons are gone 🙁

      • JD827

True but getting the value of the coupons back in WC is easy online. Chat with a rep online. Have your receipt ready.

    • Tree

Hi, The thing is as you are putting things in your cart the store still has active customers. What I do is shop at night and when the store open they usually have my items. Also be sure when you checkout allow replacements, same brand especially if you are doing a deal where you earn otherwise you can allow for any brand replacements. Give Walgreens another try they do have great deals.

  5. Deanna

I did the offers in the first scenario the other day, minus the toms toothpaste and used different orders for pick up and all worked out. I redeemed some points and got some back in return so it was free plus $2 mm. Super happy. Thank you. 🤗

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Awesome! You’re welcome, Deanna!

  6. JD827

If your order is going to total at least $25 (oop before tax plus manufacturer’s coupons ONLY) than don’t pay with WC. You still have the booster coupon going for you (yellow circle with $30 in the center) plus the 5x coupon. Look for two things—high value manufacturer’s coupons and deals where you earn extra cash that you can stack with that booster coupon and 5x. Tena has a high value coupon. Almay has nice coupons that you can stack with several deals. Look at Ninjamas. Oral-b electric toothbrush heads are a blockbuster. If you have a larger or more complicated deal I would urge you to do ship to store or ship to home. Your choices will be much wider. Example Milani has a $1 off coupon that works well on face masks but sold out in store for me. Walgreens has made a very positive change as far as calculating points in the checkout. The line “promos and coupons” is discount codes plus Walgreens coupons; these do NOT count towards meeting the spend threshold. Manufacturer’s coupons which DO count towards meeting the spend threshold are in a separate line. Everyone’s needs are different and Walgreens is tricky but it is very possible to put together some moneymaker deals right now.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

We sure appreciate your helpful tips and suggestions! Thank you!

  7. Julia

Perfect! I got 2 packs of the Huggies for a baby shower in October. Thanks!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

You are welcome! I’m sure the new mama will love getting these, Julia!

  8. radrzr

I got the 4 toothpastes for $6.84. Then I got the $8 back in Walgreens rewards. Plus $.48 back with Rakuten.

    So I made $1.64! Thanks!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Nice deal! You’re so welcome!

  9. Kelly

I went yesterday but only got $5 back, not $8 after buying 4 toothpastes. Then I used that to buy some shampoos that were supposed to be $1 each after clipped coupons but they were $2. This rarely works like the post 🙁

    • JD827

That is so disappointing. You would think toothpaste deals would be easy but actually there is a lot that can go wrong. They are my very least favorite deal at Walgreens. Walgreens usually has at least two different deals going on with the Crest and the varieties are not mix and match. Since you said you got $5 in rewards I am guessing that you bought the varieties that were part of the spend $10 get $5 in rewards. Those were not the varieties listed in the above deal. Tricky for sure! The shampoo I am not sure but the deals above were calculated using online prices with a discount code. Online prices are almost always lower than instore anyway and if you use a discount code on top of that for sure the price will be lower for a store pickup over an in store deal. I hope you don’t give up on Walgreens. Best wishes.

  10. Tara

I’m not finding a 1/1 Walgreens coupon on the shampoo

    • JD827

There are several things to try: 1. search for the Elvive product you want and scroll down through the description until you see the coupons listed and clip there from the product description.
      2. Put the products you want in the cart and from the checkout cart look for “coupons available”and add the coupons in the checkout cart 3. Use the paper coupon in store in the Monthly Savings Book. If your store has them they are by the checkout station.

  11. L

? regarding the Booster Coupon $30 WCR wys $100. I was trying to do a store pickup on a large order and I can’t get the booster coupon to apply. Is anyone else experiencing this? I have used the coupon 2X already. However, another poster earlier in the week indicated they were able to use the Booster Coupon four times.

    • JD827

If it works the way it has in the past the maximum that can be earned is $90 total over the two weeks. ($5 + $10 + $30 x 2) If you haven’t had $90 worth of rewards yet take a look at your cart. Does your OOP before taxes plus the manufacturer’s coupon line get you above the dollar threshold requirement? Only those two lines can be counted. If those things check out talk to a customer rep. If you don’t get a savvy rep just try again. You might have to explain to the rep that the limits on this coupon are not number of transactions but total monetary rewards. Good luck now!

      • L

Thank you JD827. I was not aware of the $90 WCR maximum. I talked with customer support last week about the Booster Coupon and unfortunately the agent was not able to provide any details as to it’s limitation. I appreciate your explanation. That could be why I am experiencing difficulty. I will check my recent purchases.

I know trying to put together deals at Walgreens can be frustrating due to limited stock, I have had a few disappointments. However, with the Booster Coupons along with % off sometimes you can make unbelievable deals with specific products.

  12. Kara T

I wasn’t able to get all of these deals b/c of limited stock at my store, but I will say I am going to be getting my hygiene/laundry products at Walgreens now. #1, they have curbside pick up and #2 I just got 9 products for $22. I was able to get Dove body soaps (BOGO 50% off + coupon), laundry scent booster, the toilet paper you mentioned above, the pads and tampons you mentioned above, mouthwash, and more. Plus $4 rewards and cash back through Rakuten.

  13. Sara

Spent the time last night doing this online deal, with in store pickup…. Then my order was canceled this morning! Disappointing and a waste of time!

  14. my3kidsarefun

Is the TAKE25 code still working? It was applying yesterday, but this morning it’s not working.

    • L

I was having trouble getting the TAKE25 code to work too. However, I was able to make it work when I added enough product to get it a few extra dollars over the $100 threshold.

      • my3kidsarefun

Thank you for responding so quickly. I thought it was $80 threshold. I have promo & coupons deducted & other coupons too. How do you calculate the $100 threshold?

        • L

You are correct, it was $80 threshold, but I couldn’t get it to work at that low of a total. If you didn’t want to do that large of an order you could try talking to customer service, before you place the order. When I have experienced similar issues, I have talked with them and they indicated they could assist after I placed the order. However, I would suggest you talking to CS before placing the order, to ensure I have given you accurate information.

          • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thank you for all the help, L!

        • JD827

Hi the promos and coupons line is the amount that the discount code and Walgreens coupons took off. That will not count towards the $80 spend threshold because in Walgreens view you did not spend it, it was given to you. The line that says manufacturer’s coupons will count towards the spend threshold because the manufacturer pays Walgreens the value of the coupon on the customer’s behalf. So add the amount before taxes that is coming OOP plus manufacturer’s coupons and that is the amount that counts towards meeting your spend threshold. Do not pay with WC when you are trying to meet a dollar threshold amount because in Walgreens view those aren’t dollars that go in their profit column those go in their debit column.

        • JD827

Add together your actual OOP before tax plus the manufacturer’s coupons only. The promos and coupons line consists of the % off discounts plus the Walgreens coupons. Those do NOT count.

I did an online/in store pick up order very similar to the scenario, plus I bought a few other items, and I was supposed to receive about $20 in Walgreen’s cash. I used $20 Walgreen’s cash towards my payment. The store was out of one item and the cashier scan my receipt which showed I would still be getting the $20 back so I checked out. Later that day, I saw that I did not receive the $20 so I contacted Walgreens. The customer service rep said I didn’t receive the cash because I use cash towards the purchase. Is that correct? When I paid, it said at the bottom of the page, after my Walgreens cash redemption, that $20 Walgreens cash was pending. Help? I am reading conflicting information.

    • JD827

Yes that is most likely correct. I’d have to see the exact deal to be sure though. Walgreens is divided into two types of deals. “Buy” and “spend dollar threshold deals” . You determine that by looking at the exact language in the ad. If the ad says something like “buy 2 oral-b toothbrushes and get $5 WC” you can use WC to pay for it and earn back more WC because the requirement is buying the right item in the right quantity. However if the ad says “spend $10 on oral-b toothbrushes and earn $5 in WC” you can’t pay with rewards and get more rewards back. The reason is that WC is a reward already given to you and in Walgreens view not cash that you have spent. Never trust estimated rewards because those are calculated assuming that you are paying everything OOP. Hip2Save has a great Walgreens tutorial that gives you all the ins and outs. Look at an ad and practice determining whether it is a buy deal or a dollar threshold deal. You will quickly see.

      • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Your understanding of Walgreen’s deals is just fantastic! As always, thank you so much for all your help with readers!!

  16. Phonegirl

Thank you . It worked exactly as stated. Yes, used my rewards points and still earned points. Ordered online for pickup.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Yay! That’s so great to hear!
