Disney & Star Wars Hand Sanitizers Recalled Due to Presence of Harmful Chemicals
Here’s one Disney product you’ll want to throw out!
Best Brands Consumer Products is recalling two varieties of Disney-branded hand sanitizers for containing benzene and methanol, both potentially harmful ingredients.
While no reports of sickness have been reported due to use of this hand sanitizer, if you own any of the following affected products, you’re advised to throw them away immediately.
- Mickey Mouse Hand Sanitizer in Blue 2.11oz Bottle with an expiration date of June 30th, 2022
- The Mandalorian Hand Sanitizer in Blue/Green 2.11oz Bottle with an expiration date of September 30th, 2022
According to the FDA, benzene is a known carcinogen and substantial exposure can lead to cancers, including leukemia and blood cancer of the bone marrow and blood disorders. Meanwhile, methanol exposure could result in nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, coma, seizures, permanent blindness, or permanent damage to the central nervous system.
These potentially life-threatening risks are increased for teens and children who may ingest these products. It’s important to note that benzene exposure can also happen through inhalation or skin contact.
If you purchased these hand sanitizers, you can also request a full refund by contacting ‘Quality@BestBrandsintl.com.’
