If you are a member of StrongMoms, you can click on the special offers and then the offer for the parents magazine is available. If you click it, it then says your first issue will arrive in a few weeks. Good luck!

Thanks Nicole – that might be the problem is I am a registered member already. 🙂

I love Hip2Save but I’m a little disappointed to see you encouraging all pregnant and new mom readers to enter a contest for free formula. While moms certainly have the right to choose how to feed their babies (and I know some actually can’t breastfeed even if they want to) there is a pretty broad agreement that breastmilk is nutritionally superior, and there’s also research showing that formula marketing really does decrease breastfeeding rates. I’d love to see you either not promote formula contests/freebies at all or say something like “Are you a formula feeding mom? If so, head on over…”

If you are interested in reading studies supporting my assertions let me know and I’ll of course get you links.

i have four children, i didn’t breastfeed the first two, I did the second two. It is my younger, breastfed children that have asthma, and severe allergies. The older non breast fed that are extremely healthy. While i’m not saying this is the reason, I’m just saying breastfeeding isn’t a guaranteed healthy baby. Free formula can be a godsend to some families, as it is very expensive, and anyone entering a formula contest has already made that choice. Winning free formula wouldn’t cause me or most to suddenly decide breastfeeding is the wrong choice. After doing both, I vote for breastfeeding because it is cheaper, easier, and you don’t have to clean bottles and smell formula poo…however I still am unconvinced it’s superior in health.

I am a breastfeeding momma for the second time and while my kids have never had a drop of formula I always sign up for all of the free formula samples that I can get and I donate to those who are in dire need of it for their babies. Not all people qualify for WIC (and some are too proud to try) and even though they do not qualify many of them still have a hard time finding money to buy their babies food. Maybe they chose not to breastfeed (that is THEIR choice, mine was to exclusively breastfeed, though I don’t pressure others about it or make them feel bad about giving their babies formula) or maybe they couldn’t produce enough milk, etc… but their babies still need to eat one way or the other!

So by doing this freebie I get a magazine that I like to read and others get the much needed formula for their babies. As far as I see it, its a win win situation.

People know the benefits of breastfeeding without your 2 cents.

If you’d “rather not see (Hip2Save) promote formula contests/freebies” then maybe you should look and see if La Leche League has a coupon site, because I’m sure that there are just as many breastfeeding moms on this site as there are formula feeding ones! I am a breastfeeding mother & I see no problem with Collin letting the formula feeding mothers & fathers out their know that they could win free formula. I’m sure that she would let us breastfeeding mothers know if their was a site where we could get breastfeeding supplies/samples like breastmilk bag samples and or lanolin samples.

Go make your own site if you don’t like the content advertised here. We’re all here to try to save our families money…not to criticize Collin for trying to help us! So sorry if this freebie doesn’t apply to you…you win some, you lose some!

wow. you made yourself look like the most ignorant person on the planet, someone I would really laugh at if you said that to my face. I am a breastfeeding mom and suppliment with formula when needed so free samples are my best friend. I am just really amazed that you would have the b*lls to make a comment like that.

      Oh cry me a river!

And if you go back and reread the title, you will see that Collin was actually promoting free magazines. In order to get free magazines, you have to sign up for a formula contest. This is not a debate forum. I think most people know what is best for them.

While I disagree with your post, it was polite and respectful. What’s up with you people telling her to “make her own site” and calling her “ignorant”. That’s so impolite! Can’t we all just be respectful of each other even if we disagree?
