Input? Worth the money? Easy to cancel

    • Laila

Yes, the boxes have high brand name samples, great way to try them before buying full size products and you can cancel anytime!

    • KellyG

I’ve tried many of these boxes. Birchbox was good but I personally liked GlossyBox and Ipsy better. It is easy to cancel Birchbox but it’s sort of wonky. If you don’t time it right you won’t be able to get out of being auto charged for the second month. I highly recommend calling customer service first if you don’t want the second months full price charge.

    • Anne

My husband bought me 6 months for Christmas and I loved the boxes. I ended up purchasing quite a few full-sized products after sampling from my Birch Box.

I’m kind of on the fence, I signed up in May where there was a promo for your first box to be a dollar. I just spent my $20 in birchbox points where you earn from reviewing your samples each month, which comes to be $5 in points. However, my box this month had not come yet even though the expected date was the 15th and it usually never took that long. If you see the Facebook page, many people received a broken eyeshadow and/or lipstick this month, which the customer service can fix but it is just a hassle.

    • mich

With that being said, it’s still a great way to build a collection, especially if you’re looking to explore “smaller” “nonmainstream” brands, so if you are interested, here’s my link. https://www.birchbox.com/invite/hz4c4

I had an issue w 2 boxes that items were broken ect. Simply email them. They are SO helpful and send replacements out! The one time they didn’t have anymore so they added 100 points to my account! Their customer service is top notch!

      • Susi

Same here, I have had several boxes where the lipstick was smushed in the lid, or the spray thing didn’t work on a perfume. I emailed them and they sent out new samples and gave me points once. I also have purchased several full size items that I would have never known about if not for Birchbox.
PS: the Suki foaming exfoliating cleanser in Lemongrass is nothing short of Amazing!! I never knew my face could feel so fabulous 🙂

  3. betsy

I think I’ll get this and use the samples as stocking stuffers for my tween. Thanks.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Great idea! You’re welcome 🙂

    • tisha

that’s what I do w/ mine too – now if I could just find out what to do w/ all the bright red lipsticks :/

Awe thanks Carol! It is so fun to get a treat in the mail! Now if only they had subscription boxes for my 8 yo daughter that were inexpensive! I did the doodle and tinker crates for her at Christmas w a great promo code. She loved them. But I cancelled bc they were so pricy 😔 there are some super cute ones for girls..poshpak candigirl but again just too pricey! I hope she enjoys it! There have been some where we split up the items 😊

  9. Jessie

I love Birchbox! My husband got it for me as a Christmas gift a couple years ago and Ive paid for it since–it’s a fun way to treat myself every month and I don’t feel guilty because of all the money I save from Hip2Save 🙂 Their rewards system is great–you can earn at least $5 in rewards every month. I had an item missing from my box one time and they responded to my email within hours and sent me a new item, so I’m pleased with the customer service as well. If anyone is interested in signing up here’s my link: https://www.birchbox.com/invite/6t827

Love my Birchbox subscription! it’s my favorite! i’ve found so many great products this way. Samples are fairly generous (most of the time). Please use my sign-up link…you’ll get $5 off a subscription, too.

  11. Kellie Lee

I have been subscribing to birchbox for over two years. It is absolutely worth the $10 a month. ($5 a month if you sign up using a referral link (Mine! https://www.birchbox.com/invite/ttzf9) must sign up before October 9th for the $5 off first box.

Birchbox is worth the price IF you complete the reviews and get your 10 points per reviewing each item and then use codes for purchasing items. For example if you buy a box this month at the $5 rate, and get 5 items in your first box (You always get between 5 -8 items) Your five item reviews are worth 50 points, which is worth $5 to spend in the shop. Since you DO need to earn and spend in 100 point increments.

    So buy $5 box
    Pay $10 for next month
Get 100+ points( At least five samples per month and review them)
    Spend $10 in birchbox shop.

so for $15 over two months you can try birchbox for two months, get the 10 samples (sometimes full size or deluxe size samples) and get $10 to spend on Birchbox.com which ALWAYS has coupon codes for 20% off, or free items with purchase.

I’m a huge fan! Sometimes my boxes are better than others but I have found great stuff, and I always use my points with codes to get freebies all the time!

So I don’t use much makeup, but would like skin care type products? Would I benefit?

    • Anne

There’s hair products, skin etc! And it’s fun to give away the samples to friends or family if you’re not going to use them!

    • Jessie

I’ve gotten a lot of face masks, body lotions, face lotions, sun screens, etc. I find that I only get one make-up item a month out of the five or six items in my box. 🙂

    • Julie at Koncept Cars

I have super sensitive skin so I need to try skin products before buying them. I get BB mainly for the skincare samples and I have been impressed with the product samples as well as the brands they have sent me. It’s worth it in my opinion for skin care! Just make sure you uncheck the boxes in your survey for the things you don’t want, like makeup, nail polish, fragrance etc. They started this new program where you can pick a guest box and you know the contents of it or you can pick 1 item specifically you want or have the entire box be a mystery. I have scored samples for brands that before I would have considered expensive but they are great on my skin so worth it to me. Dr Jart, Dr Brandt, Derma E, and Suki are just some of the brands I am now loyal to thanks to BB. I wait and stack my points up, then use a great promo code (like a 30% off one I received) and score all my more expensive skincare items for much cheaper. The awesome thing is that their % off coupons can be used on every item/brand in their shop. Think about it, you can score a Clarisonic for much cheaper at BB than any other retailer… Just my 2 cents! 🌴

    • Kellie Lee

Yes, Mol if you complete a survey they will send products you like and its honestly more often skincare than all makeup. For example this was my box this month. Although it changes EVERY month and it is on some level random you get what they send.

      Rituals Foaming Shower Gel
Wilma Schumann Skincare Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads
      (MALIN+GOETZ) grapefruit face cleanser
      (MALIN+GOETZ) vitamin e face moisturizer
Davines OI / All in One Milk-Shampoo-Conditioner (three products)
Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel

So one makeup, three skincare, three shampoo hair and one shower gel
Also the 8 item box is SUPER rare but awesome!

    • mol

Thanks girls! Sounds worth it, just didn’t want to be stuck with a bunch of eye make up and end up an epic fail at the Smokey eye lol!!

      • Kellie Lee

hahaha I can’t do a smokey eye either. Ironically my favorite birchbox discover is this coola after sun lotion. It helped me recover from BAD sunburn without major peeling and I am Hooked. It also smells great. 🙂 Sometimes If i get a sample from Birchbox I wont use (I dont really use lip products) then i give it away or sell it on ebay for a few bucks. My lil sister loves raiding my sample stash!

Here is a beautiful quote to improve your day:

Happiness is to be found within your own life, in your thoughts at this very moment. You yourself are most noble and precious. You have no need to be envious of anyone or to long for far-off things.

I’d love it if others can use my link. You will get $5 off!

I liked your quote Joan, so I used your link 🙂

  14. Mary

I have subscribed for about a year and I like it a lot. I get mostly skincare and haircare products with a few makeup products as well. You get 5 samples every month and sometimes extra bonus goodies. Their point system for reviewing products is also fantastic. You get points for every product you review, which easily adds up to a lot of money to spend in the birchbox shop. I’ve gotten a ton of free products and limited edition boxes that way. It is also easy to cancel and their customer service is really helpful if you ever have an issue.

This is my link if you want to join and get $5 off your first box: https://www.birchbox.com/invite/hqmc9

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for sharing Mary! 🙂

  15. Ellen

My sister gave me a birchbox subscription for my birthday and I really like it. It’s super fun to get in the mail, and it helps me feel less like a downtrodden mom all the time! If you review your products every month, the cost works out to only $5/month. Code BBJETBLUE10 will get you 100 points ($10) when you sign up. So if you signed up today, you’d spend $10, receive the October box, review the products (at least 5, maybe more) and have a minimum of $15 to spend in the shop. You could also use that $15 toward a 3 month gift subscription ($30). I’d be so grateful if someone would use my link to sign up…it’s been really nice for me! Thanks!!
    https://fbuy.me/cNelx

    • Ellen

Another thing to take note of is that you’ll get these 100 bonus points deposited in your account immediately, so you could use them to take advantage of today’s $5/$10/$15 anniversary sale. Shipping is free, and I saw some great items with values up to $75! Treat yo’self! 🙂

  16. Kristen

Off topic, but I have GapCash $25 off $50 that I’m willing to trade if someone is interested. I can email it to you; good through the 21st!

  17. Lilian

Can I get this for free by using the promo code and a referral link? Or does it only allow you to use one code? Thanks! 🙂

    • mich

The referral link is technically the code. However, since the box is 5 dollars and you can get back 5 dollars in points if you do your reviews, you can think of it as “free”. Hth

      • Lilian

Thanks! Used your referral link 🙂

        • mich

Thank you! Lol I finally got my first referral!

    • Matt

You can only use one code, so you could choose between 5BOX ($5 off your first box) or BBJETBLUE10 ($10 in points when you subscribe). A referral link can be used with either of them. Here’s mine, if you’re so inclined….Thank you!https://www.birchbox.com/invite/w9f3d

  18. sara

Hi! I have been a member with Birchbox and Ipsy for a little over a year. Birchbox is typically hair and skincare items with one make u item, sometimes a perfume sample. After about my 6th month, they started throwing in random extras. So this month for instance I got 7 items. They have the BEST review system. Get points for reviewing the items you get. Save them up and your basically getting free stuff from the shop which I love!! They have excellent customer service if your box gets lost in the mail or something arrives damaged. Definetly worth trying for $5. If you hate it, canceling is insanely easy! Heres my link for Bichbox if anyone would like to try it:
    https://www.birchbox.com/invite/s7qkw
Ipsy is $10 a month also, and they are typically more makeup items. They have a review system also, but you just save points for the offers they put up monthly and then redeem them. They always have stuff like full size eyeliners, mascaras, small nail polish, sometimes hair or skincare, eyeshadow duos, etc. I like them both, that’s why I still keep them =) If you want to try out Ipsy, you can use my link also!
