Walmart Will Deliver Groceries Right Into your Fridge, Even if You’re Not Home…
Imagine coming home from work to find a fully-stocked fridge! 😱
Back in June, Walmart first announced that it was planning to test a new InHome Delivery service in three US. cities. Now, this service is up and running for over one million customers in Pittsburgh, PA, Kansas City (Missouri and Kansas) and Vero Beach, FL. Walmart said in a statement earlier this week,
We’re obsessed with simplifying grocery shopping and finding ways to make our customers’ lives easier. That’s why InHome goes the extra step so that our customers can live their lives without worrying about making it to the store or being home to accept a delivery.
Here’s how the new Walmart InHome Delivery works:
- Customers who live in one of the cities where InHome Delivery is currently available can visit InHome.Walmart.com to see if their address is eligible.
- Eligible customers will then need to choose either the kitchen or garage fridge as the delivery spot.
- Walmart will then install smart technology in your front door (an innovative Level Lock inside your existing deadbolt) or install a GoControl Smart Garage Door Controller and you’ll be ready for InHome delivery. These required smart devices/locks cost $49.95 but you will score free professional installation and set up of the device.
- Once the lock is installed, score an entire month of unlimited InHome Deliveries for free! After the first month, you will be charged $19.95 per month but you can cancel or pause the service at any time.
- When you are ready for a delivery, just order your Walmart groceries online; note that a $30 minimum purchase is required per delivery.
- The Walmart delivery associate will send a notification as they head to your neighborhood, and again when they arrive at your door.
- At the time of InHome Delivery, associates will use the installed smart entry technology to gain access to the designated delivery area. The smart lock they install lets the associate open your house or garage door one time, only during your delivery window and only with your specific order. Once your door has been re-locked, they can’t open it again until the next delivery.
- The delivery associates will also be wearing a camera, giving you the ability to watch the deliveries remotely. If the camera isn’t recording, your door won’t open.
- After knocking, the associate will enter (they even cover their shoes before stepping inside) and lock your door behind them and then heads directly to your fridge. The live stream that started at your front door continues as your groceries are arranged neatly in your fridge, and ends when the associate leaves and locks your door behind them. You can watch it all on your phone live, or view a recording on the InHome app at your convenience.
Walmart reports that bringing InHome Delivery to three cities is just the first step for this new program. The company said that it’s looking forward to bringing this service to even more customers in the months to come.
It’s also working on adding a feature that will accept InHome returns for items purchased on Walmart.com so you can just leave them on the counter and their InHome Delivery associate will return the items on their behalf!
What do you think of Walmart’s InHome Delivery service?
Is the cost worth the convenience of coming home to a house full of groceries? Would you let a stranger into your home to put your groceries away while you’re away? Leave a comment and share your thoughts!

Besides the obvious creepy factor, I’d be too embarrassed about the moldy leftovers lurking in the back of my fridge. 😆
Lmao
😂
Then Walmart will also give you option to select Clean your Fridge before Arranging deliveries for just $10.99/m extra 🙂
I guess your j/k but that sounds good to me…………….
Yes! My grandmother lives alone and would love this!
Maybe they would be willing to take all Out of date groceries out and dispose of them for an extra fee 😂
this is a huge OH HECK NO!! I don’t want someone in my house when I’m not home….. what’s the guarantee that they’re not going through your things ? No. just . No.
True also what if Live stream buffers or no network?
i don’t want people in my house when i am home..
LOLLL becky I feel ya! 🙂
Thank you, but no Thank you, Wally🤣
Has the world really come to this? Are we truly that busy that we cannot even hunt/gather our own food? Umm, it’s a definite no for me.
No one is that busy, they just like to say they are. Most people are too ‘busy’ on instragram and facebook.
This is a huge NO from me. I would never allow someone in my home when I’m not there. Way too risky.
Up next… walmart delivery will cook the ingredients they put in your fridge… just give them the instructions..
Up next… Walmart changes your bedsheets with the new ones you just bought while you are out…(xtra charge for laundry service for the new sheets)
I don’t think I will let people into my home. Maybe the garage only will be a good idea.
I think this would be a huge help for people who are too sick to leave their homes or are disabled or have other problems that keep them at home.
This would be a great service for the elderly or ill, or someone recovering from surgery people that can not walk or drive and/or pick up the food to place it in the fridge
If those people cannot “pick up the food to place it in the fridge”, then they cannot pick up the food FROM the fridge either. They obviously have in-home help. This service is not helping anyone other than Walmart.
If I have time to go online and search for the flavor Little Debbie snacks I want, I have time to put them away. This service is just so bizarre to me. I would love to hear from anyone who tries it.
What’s next??? Lol!!!!
No I am not “too busy” to go shopping, pick out my stuff, load it up, haul it home, and put it away….all of those things I have time for. However, I would much rather spend that time doing other things with my family. I don’t know if I will use it but I won’t criticize those that do and coin them “lazy” .
My family goes shopping together.
And if you don’t want to call those people lazy, which by definition they are (but nowadays nobody can stand the truth), then I’d call them “naive”: tempting minimum wage Walmart employees by allowing them access to their home.
That scares me cause I’m the type of person to start thinking about the Walmart worker placing secret cameras in my house and stuff •_•
And even if they’re not doing in the moment when the camera is on them, they could definitely be scoping the place out to come back later or for their friends. No dog, no one home during the day, nice big tv etc.
All I can say is…Liability..Liability…Liability Issues. p.s. I’m a FSS Instacart shopper, just saying
While I do see the value in this service for those who have mobility issues, or other problems, I don’t think I will ever use this type of service. Is anyone else a control freak like me and like the option of choosing your own produce and goods? How do I know they’re going to choose the best looking fruits and veggies for me? What about certain cuts of meat? Or choose the milk with the longest expiration date vs. the milk that is going to expire in 4 days. Lol I always wonder about those things!
I am a control freak, but used the online pickup option once out of necessity and I am hooked. I actually think I get better items when I let them shop for me than I get when I do it myself. I am not sure if they’re pulling from the back or what, but the produce I get when picking up always looks better than what is available when I go in to shop. I never thought I’d like the idea of something like this, but if it becomes available in my area, I’ll be among the first to try it. I work from home and don’t like to schedule deliveries in case they’re not on time or my conference calls run late. This would allow me to schedule them without worrying about it and free up more time for my family.
Heck, I did Walmart pickup today for a canopy and they actually sold me a defective return! The canopy was missing and the return receipt was stapled to the outside case. Now, do I trust them to select my milk, meat, and produce? Hmmm. Gotta give that one some thought.
Oh no they won’t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m thinking this would be great for when you go on vacation. Get your groceries delivered to the cabin or condo just before you arrive.
I can see using this at a vacation home. Skipping the grocery store trip while I am on vacation sounds great. Walking in to a stocked fridge and pantry would be a dream come true!
That would be a great application for this especially if you can have the food before you arrive or when you arrive. It’d be tricky though for places you have to check in to yourself first and figuring out how they would get in.
So you’d trust Walmart employees (or contractors) not only with access to your house, but also to know when you’re on vacation, so they or their friends can break in?!
Remember these people make minimum wage.
Besides all of the reasons given in other posts of why I would never use this there is also the fact of how rude the “pickers” are at my Walmart. They are also in the way of shoppers, they block isles, cut in front of you and never say excuse me or sorry. I sure wouldn’t want them inside my house.
😬😬😬 I MIGHT consider this IF it wasn’t Walmart offering it. Walmart doesn’t hire the BEST employees. None at mine that look trustworthy enough to leave unattended in my home.
Just here for the comments *chews popcorn* 🍿
Ha ha. Me too!
Umm….no. Just….no.
I don’t think my St. Bernard will be very welcoming of this idea. 🤪
It’s not the technology I don’t trust, it’s PEOPLE!
Delivery people will always find ways to “get around” the cameras, and whatever protections Walmart claims to set in place with this service.
Only Walmart gains from this new service. Disabled people obviously need more help than just having groceries placed in their fridge.
