I absolutely love my new nugget ice machine! It took me about 6 months to decide on whether to buy this product or not because of the price. It was “pricey” and normally I wouldn’t spend this amount on an item such as this, but I truly believe purchasing this item was a good decision. It is easy to use and maintain and my entire family is drinking more water now!
This is the best money spent! Our household had one and one of us moved away and wanted to take Opal with her. I had to buy her this one so we could keep the original one I purchased. I don’t want to live without my nugget ice.
We have had our ice maker for approximately a month and just love it. It makes plenty of ice for the two of us and is so easy to refill. We have also bagged up some of the ice and put it in the freezer; when we take it out it is just as good as the fresh ice. I highly recommend the GE Profile Opal ice maker!
Is this a buy it now price or does it usually go cheaper during black friday?
That’s what I paid during black Friday! It’s great to have the tank so you don’t have to fill the water back up as much.
I love that ice…but seriously that’s like the price of a fridge! 😩 wish it was cheaper
Refrigerator prices have really gone up the last few years…a good one will run you $3-4k once you factor in taxes for a french door. The problem is that unless you want to drop a lot more than that for a SubZero, most French Door Refrigerators all have serious issues with ice making. We bought a highly rated Samsung, but it turns out that there is a major design flaw that happens over time with the ice maker that cant be fixed. Instead of buying a new refrigerator, it is a lot cheaper to get one of these. I picked up this for our household of 4 on Black Friday. It runs and runs and runs. Knock on wood no issues yet. And I have been told that these can be serviced by regular GE appliance technicians if that helps anyone.
I too have been burned by the Samsung French door ice maker problem (the frig was only a year old). I to have a countertop ice maker. NEVER again am I getting a French door refrigerator!!! I’m sticking with the classic, Side-by-Side. I have a nugget ice cube maker (not this brand) and the ice is so nice!!!! Sonic Ice!!!
What kind of ice maker do you have?
Every time I see this posted I go back and forth about buying it… I’m nervous about the longevity for something so pricy.
We are currently a year in and have had no issues.
Do you have to remove the ice and put in freezer or does it keep the ice cold?
I love this question, rdp816! 😍The drawer that holds the ice is not refrigerated (or frozen). So, the ice in the bin can melt back into the water reservoir at the bottom of the machine. But, any melted water is then circulated in the machine and makes fresh ice.🥰
Thank you!!
