I’ve never understood these signs. Do people think that drivers actually change their behavior based on seeing this sign in front of them?

Could be for emt or firefighters if there is an accident, maybe??

      • MommySpendsLess

That’s a good thought but I just googled it and two different sources say that it’s not for emergency personal and they don’t look for it. It was brought to the US in 1984 by a guy who drove his 18 month old nephew home for the first time and felt nervous about bad drivers. He teamed up with a couple of ladies who had previously tried to market the product and used his connections in retail to make it a success.
So the thought generally seems to be that parents think people will drive more carefully when they see the sign to protect the precious cargo they may be transporting. (Or may not be since I doubt most people remove the sign when their child isn’t in the car.)

Oops! Personal should be personnel. Been a long day!

These signs actually cause more accidents because people are reading them while driving & it distracts them.
