This Reader ‘Rock’ed An Idea to Spread Positivity

How painting rocks can spread positivity…
Finding activities for kids to participate in that don’t cost a lot, stir creativity, and also have meaning is a triple win! Hip2Save reader, Joan, and her daughter discovered a great way to accomplish all three.
Joan and her ten year old daughter, Sarah, started decorating rocks! This mother-daughter duo placed their masterpieces next to the sidewalk to brighten the day of others walking by.
“All you need for this project are rocks, acrylic paint, sharpie markers, and a sealant such as mod podge. Where we live in California, we were able to find these items at our local Dollar Tree store. You can also easily find them online and have them shipped to you.
We checked out some rock painting books from our local library and we also looked online for ideas. There are a lot of good video tutorials on YouTube.”
Thank you, Joan, for sharing your idea with us! We enjoyed seeing your daughter’s creativeness and kindness rocks. This is a great activity for children (and adults) of all ages!
Try this idea with your kids!
Gather the kiddos, take them for a walk, and collect rocks of all shapes and sizes. Set up an art station with paints and brushes, and talk about how to decorate each rock. The kids will have fun creating their very own masterpieces. Once the rocks are dry, set the rocks around your neighborhood to spread a little happiness!
