This Reader Created Her Own Seasonal Wreath Made of Hydrangeas!

Having a beautiful wreath does NOT need to be expensive!
The holidays are already among us, which means it’s time to start thinking about decorations. Wreaths remain a classic for the upcoming seasons, but they can sometimes be pretty expensive. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a decently sized wreath for less than $30! This week’s Happy Friday reader, Maria, noticed the same thing and decided to try something new.

Maria was actually able to create her own wreath using hydrangeas from her mother’s house! All she had to purchase was a wire wreath from Joann, and the result was this beautiful, full-looking wreath. Keep reading to see how she did it!

I love the look (and price) of natural scapes to decorate my front door. Last fall, while walking my dog, I collected twigs with the most beautiful red, orange and yellow leaves and placed them in my year-round planters. I got a ton of compliments and they lasted until the snow came.

Now that it’s early October, and the leaves haven’t changed yet, and I was looking for something to decorate my front door before I go totally fall again. While visiting my mom, I noticed her gorgeous hydrangeas starting to change color and decided they were perfect to use.

I’ve been loving the look of those gorgeous oversized wreaths but not the price tag! So I decided to try and make my own (with my lovely and talented mom’s help, of course).

I bought a 24-inch wire wreath form at JoAnn Fabrics for $6.49, some green floral wire, and some clearance ribbon. The wreath came out gorgeous, and, in a few weeks, I can re-use the wire form!

What an innovative idea and execution Maria and her mom had! Now that we know how resourceful we can be with what we have, I’m sure many people will want to try making this as well.

Thank you, Maria, for sharing this awesome hip tip with us! There are so many beautiful wreaths you can make with different plants and flowers depending on the season.
