This Reader Uses Library Books for Christmas Bedtime Stories
Who doesn’t love a Christmas tale? 🎄
Sometimes all it takes is a little reading and Christmas spirit to remind your children of how well behaved they can be. This week’s Happy Friday reader, Anna, figured that bringing up the naughty and nice lists isn’t the best way to encourage her little one to abide by bedtime.
Luckily, she found a super creative hack that’s frugal, encouraging, and filled with Christmas magic! All you need is a library card and some newspapers.
My daughter was starting to act up at bedtime, and I wanted to stop it quickly. She is, of course, excited about Christmas, but I don’t like threatening presents from Santa for misbehavior.
I decided to borrow several Christmas stories from the library and use them for bedtime rewards. I had my older daughter wrap them in the newspaper (I didn’t want to use up my good paper and didn’t have time for a trip to Dollar Tree).
Each night that she cooperates getting ready for bed, she can unwrap a story. She loves picking a story each night, and I have had very little trouble since.
This is such a frugal and clever surprise any child would love, Anna! This way you can do a different Christmas tale each night, which would not only be super affordable not having to purchase each book but also convenient since the books won’t be taking up space in your home after the holiday.
