Tips for Saving BIG at Bath & Body Works

[Updated 08/13/2018]
If you love shopping at Bath & Body Works as much as I do, be sure to check out the following secrets and money-saving tips for saving big on their famous body care items, candles, home fragrances, and more!

1. Sign up for emails AND offers.

One of the best ways to get those great coupons in your inbox (and to stay in the loop of their sales) is to sign up for Bath & Body Works emails! Just go here and scroll down to the bottom left of the page to fill in your email address. Have several email addresses? Use them all for even more coupons!

You can also head on over here and sign up to receive FirstLook emails to get exclusive sneak peeks before anyone else, plus special offers, fun surprises, and more sent right to your inbox! You can also sign up for Bath & Body Works emails on this page by just checking the little box under “Join Now!”.

2. Request mailer coupons.

Bath & Body Works sends out a variety of mailer coupons that vary from person to person. According to their website, “the coupons in your mailbox may not be the same as what your friends and neighbors get. In fact, you may get a coupon when they don’t and they may get one when you don’t.”

BUT, whenever you visit a Bath & Body Works store, shop online, or call them, they often ask you to confirm your contact information so they know how to reach you. Don’t be hesitant to share that information with them if you like getting those coupons in the mail!

You can also head on over here and choose the “Add to Direct Mail” option from the drop-down menu and enter your mailing information for a better chance to score those wonderful mailers that often include free fun size product coupons with NO purchase required – usually valued at $5!

3. Save coupons for in-store sales & clearance.

A great way to get the most bang for your buck is to use coupons in conjunction with store sales, which they have regularly, such as their Buy 3, Get 2 Free Signature Body Care Sale. A few times a year, they’ll also have their Buy 3, Get 3 Free Sale, making for even sweeter deals after coupons!

Usually at the end of a season, Bath & Body Works offers 50% select clearance deals to make room for new inventory. The clearance starts at 50% off and is only valid while supplies last.

4. They offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.

Bath & Body Works has one of the BEST return policies out there. If you’re not happy with ANY purchase, just bring it back and you’ll be able to swap it out or get a refund. Don’t have a receipt or online invoice? If you lose your receipt or even if you receive an item as a gift, you can bring the item back for an exchange or merchandise credit based on the lowest selling price of the item.

I’ve also been told that if you have a bottle of Fragrance Mist that’s been sitting under your sink for a year and just don’t like it anymore, you can bring it into their store and exchange it for a merchandise credit for another item. The cashier I spoke with at my store said that the credit you will receive will depend on how old the item is, but that they want you to be happy. Ummm…that’s what I call amazing!

5. They do price adjustments!

Buy a candle for $12.95 and then it goes on sale for $10 a few days later? If a purchase you made becomes eligible for a promotion, sale price, or special offer within 14 days of your original purchase, Bath & Body Works will make a one-time price adjustment from the original selling price to the current selling price. For a price adjustment on an online purchase, call them at 1-800-756-5005. For in-store purchases, bring the original receipt to one of the stores so they can make the adjustment.

6. Use coupons before they start OR after they expire!

Because they want you to be happy, Bath & Body Works offers a 3-day grace period on most mailer and email coupons. Most stores will actually allow you to use coupons three days BEFORE the starting date printed on the coupon and up to three days AFTER the expiration date printed on the coupon.

7. Stack three attached mailer coupons in-store.

If you receive a mailer with several coupons all attached on the same card, you can use ALL three in one transaction! So if you receive one that has coupons for $5 Signature Body Lotions (regularly $12.50), 20% off your entire purchase, and FREE Fun Size Signature Body Lotion or Shower Gel, you can walk out of the store paying ONLY $4 for a Signature Body Lotion and Fun Size Lotion or Gel! Sweet!

Previously, Bath & Body Works offered a Free Christmas Preview Guide & Coupon Booklet with ANY in-store purchase that included several awesome coupons. Although this may vary, you should be able to shop in-store on December 5th and use a $10 off $30 coupon that expired December 4th with a 20% off coupon that starts December 5th in the same transaction since they are on the same card.

8. Shop the Semi-Annual Sales in June and December.

Every December/January and June, Bath & Body Works has their amazing Semi-Annual Sales where you can save up to 75% off select items to make room for new inventory.

Even sweeter, you can use coupons during these sales to score amazing deals on hand soaps, body lotions, and much more! Plus, be sure to check your mailbox as they often send out coupons too.

9. Stock up on 3-Wick Candles in December.

This is my favorite day to shop! Early in December, Bath & Body Works has their 1-day Candle Sale where all 3-Wick Candles are just $8.50 each (regularly $22.50). Even sweeter, you can pair this sale with $10 off $30 or $20 off $50 coupons that are often sent in the mail and pay around $5 per candle!

If you’re not able to shop in-store on this special day, they usually release the sale online, too, but you’ll have to pay to ship. If you’re on the fence about their candles, they smell AMAZING! I actually prefer them over Yankee Candles as they make my entire house from top to bottom smell delicious!

10. Get free gift wrapping supplies in-store.

Planning to gift Bath & Body Works items but don’t have time to buy a gift bag? Be sure to look for the glass containers that hold Free Gift Wrap items with any purchase, including cello bags, gift tags, and ribbon. You can ask for them at checkout or grab a few and throw them in your bag while shopping.

11. Know the best ways to use free product coupons.

If you receive a coupon for a “Free product with ANY $10 purchase (valued up to $14)”, consider heading in-store and buying two travel-sized items priced at $5 each or a few Pocketbac Hand Sanitizers priced at $1.75 (or often five for $6) to score a free full-size product, valued up to $14!

Or because the Aromatherapy collection rarely goes on sale, consider using your “Free product with ANY $10 purchase” coupon to score Free Aromatherapy items if you’re a fan of these products. These coupons have a value of up to $14, which means you’ll be able to purchase a full-size Aromatherapy body wash & foam bath or body lotion for free as these items regularly sell for around $13.50 each.

12. Save BIG on Black Friday.

Every year, Bath & Body Works offers fantastic bargains during their Black Friday sales, including their famous VIP Tote Bag filled with tons of full-size products. As an idea, previous year’s tote bags cost only $25 with a $30 purchase and are valued at over $115 – and you can use coupons, too!

Even sweeter, on Black Friday (be sure to call your store to verify), most stores will allow you to stack one of each type of coupon in a single transaction, even if the coupons are not attached on a mailer (see #6 above). The cashier will apply a dollar off coupon first (such as $10 off $30), a Free item with purchase coupon next, and a percent off coupon last (such as 20% off your entire purchase).

13. Make multiple gifts out of totes.

A great way to save is by taking advantage of Bath & Body Works Tote offers throughout the year. Usually around Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, early Spring, early Summer, October, and Black Friday, you can buy a Tote Bag/Bucket filled with lots of goodies whenever you make a qualifying purchase.

Plus, if you’re looking to make gifts OR looking to fill Christmas stockings on the cheap, consider splitting up the totes to create multiple gifts, and you’ll end up saving more than buying separately.

14. Shop using your Victoria’s Secret Angel Credit Card.

Are you an Angel Cardholder? The Victoria’s Secret Angel and PINK Angel credit cards are private label credit cards, but you can also use your card in Bath & Body Works stores if you’d like (not online)! Keep in mind that you will not earn Angel Reward points on Bath & Body Works purchases.

15. Know when to stock-up.

If you’re wondering what the best price to pay for Bath & Body Works items or when you should stock up, here is a guideline for various items:

3-wick Candles: $9 or less (see #8 above)
Hand Soaps: $2 or less
Wallflower Refills: $2.50 each or less
Signature Body Care Items: $3 or less
Aromatherapy Collection: $3.75 or less
Pocketbac Hand Sanitizers: $0.50 or less

16. Skip the store and shop online when…

If you don’t have a Bath & Body Works store nearby or just don’t have time to shop, you can often score better deals online when paired with sales and coupon codes. For instance, BathandBodyWorks.com occasionally offers up online clearance deals where you can save big, such as these clearance Sunshine Body Creams you could purchase for just $3.75 each shipped (regularly $13) or these four clearance Signature Collection Lotions for $11 shipped (regularly $11 each)!

Also, Bath & Body Works often hosts Online-Only sales you’ll want to watch for! As an idea, they previously offered up to 70% off their online Holiday Clearance, a Free Pumpkin 3-Wick Candle online only, and a nice deal on Aromatherapy products – just by shopping online!
