Glossy Box 2019 Advent Calendar

From one beauty lover to another, this box is everything.

Glossy Box, the company behind the popular monthly subscription beauty box, has upped their game this holiday season by introducing their 25-Day Beauty Advent Calendar. This gorgeous collection of daily makeup, skincare, and haircare treats has a total box value of over $500! 😱

We posted this earlier in the month, but we’re bumping up now as the Beauty Advent Calendar is now available to everyone (where as before it was only available to subscribers)!

Glossy Box 2019 Advent Calendar comparing size to 15" laptop backpack

I really can’t express just how beautiful and massive this advent calendar is, so I laid it next to my laptop bag which fits my 15″ MacBook for size comparison. The box itself is a pretty pale pink with gold foil accents and is filled with individual boxes containing each day’s beauty gift. The front panels are secured with magnets so you can stand the box upright and open and close with ease.

I’ll level with you, it costs a pretty penny as the 25-product calendar will set you back $99, though it’s product value is over $500 which makes the purchase much more justifiable.

If you want to confirm the exact value yourself, the set includes a booklet with the product description and retail value of each item included (but be warned, it’s obviously full of spoilers)!

The way I see it, there are 3 approaches to purchasing this box.

Glossy Box 2019 Advent Calendar first day product, leave-in hair treatment

1. Treat yo’self.

The intended purchase is to buy this advent calendar so you have a fun, new beauty product each day of December. It’s pricey but hey, you’re worth it!

2. One for me, one for you.

Treat this as a gift for you AND a friend by splitting the cost or gifting the other half. Someone can claim the odd-numbered days and the even-numbered days go to the other person. There is a gift on the 25th which obviously gives an unfair advantage to odd-numbered days but it can be decided who gets the last day or if it should be given to a 3rd party (just to really keep things fair).

3. 5 beauty sets for $20 each.

Break up the entire box into multiple gifts for beauty-loving friends and family! You could repurpose the products into bundles of 5 and give out 5 self-care sets as gifts that only cost $20 each. This would be a great idea for Secret Santa exchanges, close co-workers, hostesses, or just some extra gifts to have on hand for anyone you may have forgotten while shopping.

Bonus: Don’t forget to reuse the box next year!

Reducing packaging waste is huge in the beauty industry, but this advent calendar does come with quite a bit of it. However, it’s an absolutely stunning box with just as cute of mini boxes inside. You can easily reuse the box for the following year (or even the current year if you end up giving all the products away as gifts).

Change the theme from beauty to anything you’d like by applying decorative paper over the front and inside circles to cover the branding and beauty-specific verbiage.

So, what’s in the box?!

GlossyBox Advent Calendar beauty product— Oribe High Lacquer Nail Polish in violet shade

Unfortunately, we’re sworn to secrecy and can’t reveal all the lovely beauty treats (and we wouldn’t want to spoil the fun either)! But as a special sneak peek, you can expect amazing products like Oribe The Lacquer High Shine Nail Polish in a moody violet shade, perfect for the upcoming winter season. And this product is valued at $32 to purchase on its own… that’s 1/3 of the price for the entire box!

This looks beautiful! What is in it? I clicked on the link and it doesn’t show the contents.

I don’t want to give away any spoilers if anyone who checks this post and decides to buy prefers to be surprised at each day’s gift. It has an assortment of beauty products (15 of which are full-sized) featuring makeup, skincare, and hair care. It comes with a booklet of all the included products if you do get curious after purchasing!

    • Carrie

Yes, I would definitely like to know the contents before buying!

      • Kelly

        Me too!

    • Amber

In the post it says it’s completely reusable is all they meant I think.

This review is great! It really lets you know what is on the box. I was in the fence but with this review, I am going to get it! 😊

    • Gscribble

Thanks for posting this! I went ahead and ordered the absolute N.Y. lipstick!

There is zero chance of me spending $100 (especially on beauty products) without knowing what I’m getting for that. It doesn’t matter what the item retail at if they are not interesting or worth it to me. Even assume I was buying and advent calendar for myself and wanted it to be a bit of a surprise, I’d still want to know the general type of products or the brands or something. Most of the beauty advent calendars have left me unimpressed. Not sure why anyone would risk it with this price tag.

I think that $99 for a box that I have no idea of it’s contents is not in my realm of thinking. Currently I am at a diamond level with Ulta and well on to the way of retaining that level for next year. I say this because obviously I spend a lot on beauty products but at least I know what I am getting 😬

That is for the UK version of the box. The US version is slightly different.

  4. Kate

    Is the box reusable?

    • Anna

      Did you read the article?

      • Kate

        Wow, just wow

      • Kate

I understand how advent calendars work. The magnetic closure made me wonder, is it a resuable calendar. If you can that might help justify the high price.

If anyone really wants to see spoilers check out mysubscriptionaddiction.com
She has full spoilers and a review of the box. The link someone posted above might be for the UK version which is slightly different than the US version. It’s a great box! I wish I could get it but any extra funds has to go to Christmas right now.

    • Amanda

Thank you so much for letting everyone know where to look! I hate surprises! Lol especially at that price point!!

    • Corina

Thank you. Absolutely nothing i would use myself.

  6. Kristina

That backpack though 😍😍😍 would you be willing to share backpack info

    • SueJo

Kristina, I was thinking the same! I wanted to know where to get that backpack!!!

      • ProudMama

I zoomed in on the pic. Brand says Calpak. A Google search yields many sellers. 😉 HTH!!!

  7. Rn

Thanks for the info adamhall….I’m African American and I see very little products I will use besides the nail color and fragrances….I don’t see the box being worth $500 though

  8. Adrienne

@Rn, I am also African American and thought same as you hopefully more advent box suggestions are coming soon from H2S.

  9. Rachp

ugh, this is sooooooo cute but , I am not going to subscribe and deal with all of that, also I would need to know if the products would be what my daughters would like but I love this idea !

  10. Lily

Hmm the box is really cute but a lot of the full size products seem to be typical cheap subscription box fillers (e.g., Steve Laurant lip gloss, Eyeko mascara, Doucce eyeshadow single). Doesn’t seem worth the $99 price

  11. Corina

Even if you posted what was in the box, we wouldn’t know which day was which beauty item. Or you could post the the actual retail cost of each item without mentioning the item to let us know how much it all totalled for. $99 is a lot to spend on make up that may or may not be compatable with my skin tone/type. Even if it supposedly worth $500.
