I have used LD and other off-brand ink cartridges in a few different printers over many years (10+). Like others have said, many manufacturers now have chips in the cartridge and they will not work if not their own brand.
I know HP and Epson do this.
Our color printer is a Canon refillable ink tank printer so it would not be affected by this since there is no cartridge. I got rid of my Epson because the refills were too expensive even when on sale.

I have a cannon all in one. I bought these ink packs to try and save some money. Big mistake, it locked my printer with an error code that I could find anything about it so I called the company. Before I even finished to explain my problem and the code being displayed, they asked if I had tried these when I said yes, they said my warranty was voided and I couldn’t unlock my printer. It is now a very expensive paperweight.
