Start the day with the most important (and easy!) meal thanks to this egg toast air fryer breakfast hack.

air fryer breakfast

All hail the air fryer, one of the most magical kitchen tools in all the land!

It’s no secret I’m obsessed with my air fryer! I use it almost every day even if it’s just to reheat up leftovers because it’s so darn convenient. My love for the handy kitchen appliance always has me looking for new hacks and tips specifically for air fryer cooking.

In fact, I recently spotted this cool trick to crack an egg on toast in the air fryer with a slice of bacon to cook them all at the same time! After seeing this Tasty Facebook video, I knew right away it was something genius to try!

Confession: cooking breakfast is my downfall.

To be honest, I cannot get it together for weekday breakfasts and am not great at cooking or prepping them during weekdays for my family. We all wake up at different times, and everyone is pretty much on their own to toast a waffle, pour some cereal, dish up yogurt, or make something simple like that.

This air fryer egg sandwich (of sorts) is one of the easiest weekday breakfast ideas I’ve ever seen!

I tried this hack of cooking bacon and eggs on toast, and it’s actually pretty handy if you’re in a rush. You can’t beat a warm complete breakfast in under ten minutes! My kids would definitely prefer a bacon-and-egg-type meal in the morning, and this is actually something they can make on their own, too! Plus, air fryer egg toast so much healthier than a sugary bowl of cereal.

Tips for making the best bacon egg toast in the air fryer:

  • Cook times can vary and you may need to experiment a couple of times using your air fryer and specific ingredients. It took me a few times to test cook times and temps in my Power XL air fryer, and 9 minutes at 340 degrees turned out to be the perfect cook time for this breakfast hack.
  • I’d use a thinner cut of bacon for this recipe, or consider precooking your slice of bacon for a few minutes before adding it to the toast and egg.
  • If you’re super particular about how much you want your egg cooked, just know that the egg won’t have a runny yolk in order to cook the bacon long enough to be fully cooked. I still think it tasted yummy and I’m a fan! You could also opt to add the egg halfway through to let the bacon cook a bit first.

Bacon and egg toast as an air fryer breakfast is a winner for us!

This is not the fanciest breakfast, but it’s super tasty and gets the job done! I really enjoyed it and so did my kids. Mom win!

Here’s what my teammate Jenna said about this air fryer egg toast hack:

“This is the most amazing breakfast hack ever! My kids’ favorite food in the world is bacon, eggs, and toast. We made it most mornings, and it is a frequent dinner request, too. Usually, I make the bacon in the air fryer, the eggs on the stove, and the toast in the toaster but with this fun recipe, I can do it all at once using ONE appliance! Yay! I was honestly expecting some sort of a mess, but it worked and held up beautifully!”

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Congrats on the new little one! I think you’ll love this!

  2. Georgia

i like this but instead of the bacon oil draining to the bottom of the airfryer it is absorbed by the bread 🙂

    • lexiloowho

Sit the bacon next to it while it cooks and put it on top when it’s done!

    • Frema

If you don’t want all that bacon fat in your bread, try pre-cooking the bacon in the micro for just a few seconds on a paper towel, this will cause some of the fat to be rendered out so it won’t all be absorbed into the bread. I haven’t tried this yet, (tomorrow morning for sure), it just seems reasonable to me.

  3. Jim Trebowski

I’m going to try this but wait until halfway through to add the egg. I like my yolks runny lol.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ya I think that sounds like a plan!

  4. Laura Steffens

Does the bread get greasy with the bacon cooking on top of it?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Nope -there honestly wasn’t very much grease from one piece I think. It’s perfectly not greasy.

  5. Annie2020

    Tried it.. good!

  8. Holly

Keep those simple air fryer recipes coming!!!

  9. Non-Sticker

Be careful with the nonstick coatings folks. Some say they are quite toxic.

    • Owl

Yes, I can’t have them in my home as I have pet birds, and it is too toxic for them. Some air fryers use ceramic instead of nonstick, though – like the Foodi, I believe.

  10. didi18

Sounds easy and delicious. Thanks! I’m going to try it with frozen waffles. Giving it some sweetness. 😋

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

ohhhh this could be epic! Smart!

  11. Margaret

I tried it with some cheeses on top at the end! Yumm! My eggs turned out a little runny still. So I’ll just have to play with the timing and heat of my air fryer so I don’t over toast the bread. Thanks for the post!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Sure! Yes one you get the timing to how you like things its great!

  12. heidi

How long to cook if you want the egg yok hard. i don’t like runny eggs

  13. Christine

I just tried this and I found I needed to add a extra minute. Egg white was still runny. It’s a trial and error process because I just recently got my air fryer so we’re literally trying everything.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes each machine may be slightly different, and i love how easy it is to just open abd check on things! Happy air frying!

  14. Terrene

Didn’t work for me egg just slide down from the bread and ruined my air fryer

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I’m so sorry to hear that, Terrene!

  15. Linda

Your egg won’t be cooked on the bottom.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Linda! You can cook longer or until desired doneness. Hoping that might be helpful! 💖

  16. Linda

Then the yolk be hard, no? I’ll play around with it, it was tasty

  17. Frema

My brand Air Fryer specifically states “do not use nonstick spray oil in the Air Fryer” It is best to get an oil sprayer and use olive oil. It works very well.

  18. MomO2

The middle is good. But bacon was chewy while toast corners were burnt. Need to try other temp/time combos

  19. Lolie

Sounds delicious! We will be trying this for sure. Thank you for sharing.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh good! Hope you love it Lolie

  20. Csandst1

I can make this in the same amount of time microwaving bacon and frying egg in a pan and toasting bread. My was does generate some extra dishes but all go in dishwasher except pan.

  21. Katy

I tried this and it was delicious. The bacon was chewy and the toast was a little overdone. How can I fix this?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

If you’d like a crispier bacon try cooking just the bacon first for a bit then proceeding. Then maybe cook at a lower temp for the remainder. It’s kind of trial and error on your air fryer since eveyone’s is a bit diff.
Glad you enjoyed this idea! I still love it.
