You gotta love easy peasy desserts like this!

Homemade shakes are so easy to whip up at home using a blender! For this idea start with a high quality vanilla ice cream, mint extract and vanilla extract.

There’s really nothing better than a homemade milkshake with real quality ice cream! At our house personally prefer the vanilla from Costco that comes in a two pack, as it’s so thick & creamy, and reasonably priced.

Hip Tip: To make things extra festive, consider picking up some green food coloringshamrock sprinkles, and some fun green and white straws!

Yum!!! I’m making this tonight!!! Thanks for the recipe!!

I don’t do the mint or vanilla extract…I either crush up Girl Scout thin mint cookies or something similar. I have also done Andes mint chocolate and York peppermint candies chopped up. But yours is less fattening. Don’t forget drizzle the chocolate syrup all over.

i had not heard of the shamrock shakes containing chocolate before? i think you are making more of a grasshopper, instead.

Off topic a bit but do you know how to make the magical leprechaun powder? They made it at school and my son loved it. I figure I’d ask you or I could look it up online. Thanks

From what I saw on Pinterest, it’s just pistachio pudding mix that milk is then added to.

Is the mint extract the same as peppermint extract? Thanks

    • Tiffany

No. It’s more like spearmint than the more candy cane peppermint flavor.

    • Joy

No peppermint and mint extract are not the same. Mint extract is a mixture of spearmint and peppermint. Peppermint extract is just peppermint and tastes like candy canes. You need the mild spearmint to balance the peppermint. I have made shamrock shakes with peppermint extract before and it does not taste the same. Too strong. You also can usually buy green mint flavored milk this time of year instead of using extract. Tru Moo and Byrne Dairy make mint flavored milk. 🙂

        Thank you both

Yesssssss! I need this recipe in my life. Thank you thank you

I made something similar today, but I turned mine green by putting a couple big handfuls of spinach in the blender with the milk and pureeing it before adding the ice cream and extract. My kids loved it, and none of us could taste the spinach. I call that a win!

I have been looking everywhere for this recipe! So many of them are ADULT recipes…same with the mudslide recipe…MY SON and MYSELF WILL NOT DRINK ALCOHOL…as an almost 10 year sober alcoholic, I’m adament about that! He’s 15—- soooooooo scary that he’ll go down that road like I did and like his dad is still traveling (and wrecking cars! LOL!)

Thanks for posting this and Aidan will DEFINITELY get many of these…just minus the food coloring since he has ADHD!
