Marshmallow Fluff Sandwiches are Yummy and Nostalgic
Ever had a sweet and gooey marshmallow fluff sandwich?
Marshmallow fluff can conjure up so many childhood memories of the good ole’ days eating these yummy Fluffernutter sandwiches!
This 3-ingredient sandwich is made from spreadable marshmallow creme or marshmallow fluff, peanut butter, and soft white bread. Marshmallow fluff has been around for over 100 years. It first became popular in the northeastern part of the U.S. You can actually make much more than sandwiches with it, including rice crispy treats, cookies, s’mores, frosting, and more!

Many of us relish our favorite fluff combinations like Nutella and fluff, banana and fluff, and just the fluff on white bread as a sandwich. The Fluffernutter seems to be the most popular combination – and it’s definitely very delicious if you haven’t tried it!

Interesting Fact: I compared my jar of marshmallow fluff to a popular brand of strawberry jelly, and the creme had fewer grams of sugar (and slightly fewer calories) than the jelly per serving! Interesting right? I would have thought the opposite!

- creamy peanut butter
- marshmallow fluff

Spread peanut butter and marshmallow fluff on to the bread slices, sandwich together, and enjoy!
This was actually the first time my kids and I tried Fluffernutter sandwiches and… OMG YUM! I knew I was gonna love them, but this is going to be a fun once-in-a-while treat. My kids were impressed too – HA!

Growing up in New England, these are a staple! And yes, you have to use white bread! My husband and I still make these comfort sandwiches for a late night snack sometimes 🙂

I’m also from MI and we ate these all the time as a kid. I prefer toasted white bread. It makes the fluff more spreadable and adds a little crunch to break up the soft texture. Haven’t had one in years but now I just might!
Try it grilled like a grilled cheese sandwich. 😁
I wonder if the trick of grilling with mayo (Dukes?) on the outside of the bread would work here?

I’m from Michigan too but I still had these growing up…maybe it’s because my family originated from Massachusetts. I had no idea these were a regional thing! Now pasties, Vernors, Made Rite chips…I wouldn’t expect people outside of Michigan to understand! 🤤

Yes! I introduced my 13 year old niece to these when she visited this summer, and plan to do the same with her 7 year old sister later this week. She loved it and thought it was a great combination.
When I was in my middle teens we would toast the bread. It takes it to a whole new LEVEL. Oozing peanut butter and marshmallow and more intense flavor.
Don’t forget that Marshmallow Fluff makes the best filling for Whoopie Pies!

Had no idea this was regional! I grew up eating them and so did all the kids at my school in New England. So good but soooo much sugar! I’ll have to see if I can find it here in the south.
Growing up, my Dad made these for us all the time. Open faced, spread peanut butter on both sides and stick mini marshmallows to one side. Then put them under the broiler. The peanut butter gets warm and the marshmallows puff up and get toasted.

Wow! Never heard of this. Sounds fun. West coast – peanut butter and honey. Messy and delicious. When packing lunch for school it was less messy to use peanut butter and powdered sugar or white sugar 😂 Health food 😂

We were snow skiing in Colorado and started talking to some Canadians at lunch one day. We told them about Fluff and PB sandwiches…they keep looking at us funny and asked us to explain. They laughed and told us “fluff” was their word for fart…lol. 😆 😂😂😂 Fart and PB sandwiches…no wonder they were confused.

I’m a born and raised New Englander and now have two kiddos of my own. When we ask them what they want to lunch about 80% of the time it’s Peanut Butter and Fluff. It’s a staple in our house.
If you want to try something else scrumptious try adding Fluff to your hot chocolate this winter… better than marshmallows hands down!

when i was in the 8th grade my family and best friends family were both quite poor…her mom worked at a convenience store and got a case of snickers and a case of marshmallow fluff for free as they were near the sell by date. for an entire 3 day weekend, Daphne and I ate nothing but snickers dipped in fluff…to this day i can’t eat either product lol
I am from the deep south and have never been served this concoction of deliciousness! I guess at 47 its never too late!
I remember having these peanut butter and fluff sandwiches when I used to go to Maine for vacation. Although I often added homemade jam to them, I also sometimes had them without jam. Both ways were insanely delicious. They went really good with a variety of salty snack foods, including:
1 – cheese crackers (particularly, Cheez-It crackers)
2 – potato chips (especially the sour cream & onion flavor)
3 – pretzels
4 – Combos (especially the cheddar cheese pretzel flavor)
Regardless of which snack foods I ate along with these sandwiches, they were all very delicious. I miss those days and, if I had a time machine, I would definitely take it back to those days again.
