Love Eggnog? You’ve gotta try making  this easy eggnog ice cream in your ice cream maker!

Eggnog fans will love this easy hack for making homemade ice cream as dessert!

If you have a container of your favorite store-bought eggnog in the fridge, plus an ice cream maker, you’ve gotta try making this one-ingredient homemade ice cream!

Egg Nog ice cream in ice cream maker bowl

If you think about it, most eggnogs are high in fat and ultra-rich. This makes for incredibly delicious and creamy ice cream using just one single ingredient!

My teammate Jenna first shared this fun kitchen hack with us and I am so excited to report back that it works brilliantly!

I happen to be a huge fan of eggnog and like to enjoy a glass occasionally during the holidays. I also am a BIG fan of my Whynter 2.1 quart ice cream maker that makes insanely delicious frozen ice cream in about an hour! It’s one of Collin’s favorite appliances too, and quite a few other team members have it and love it as well.

Don’t have an ice cream maker yet? Be sure to check out our post sharing our favorite ice cream makers. This kitchen gadget would make an amazing (and yummy) gift idea!

Tips for making eggnog ice cream:

  • I would opt for the full-fat eggnog type as it will yield the creamiest & richest ice cream!
  • This makes amazing soft-serve style ice cream. If you’d like your ice cream a little harder and firmer, place the bucket in the freezer for an hour or so afterward.
  • Store leftovers covered in the freezer and try to eat within 2 weeks for best results.

bowl of ice cream next to christmas tree

Friends, this holiday ice cream is over-the-top creamy & delicious!

It’s like a wonderful smooth custard. What a fun and easy way to make ice cream! I do think going this route may be a little money-saving as well as far as making ice cream at home since you’re only buying one simple ingredient. I can’t wait to put a little in my coffee in the morning. Enjoy!

Here’s what my teammate Jenna has to say about this recipe:

“This time of year, my favorite flavor to indulge in is eggnog! I like to just pour a glass and top it with whipped cream and a little cinnamon, so good! My family and I were talking about how eggnog is basically the base for homemade ice cream, so we decided to experiment and it worked!

This ice cream is so creamy and delicious, and has that perfect seasonal eggnog flavor. And just one ingredient to grab at the store, and it doesn’t take long to make either.”

I’ve been wanting the Whynter Ice Cream maker fir a long time- What is the best price you have seen on it? Thanks so much for all you do!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

A few years ago it went down to $180 according to the Amazon price history, and fluctuates to $379. Hope that helps. We will keep our eyes open for any possible deals! I will say it’s super high-quality!
