Carving pumpkins soon? πŸŽƒ

Make sure to save your pumpkin seeds and roast them up for a crunchy, salty, delicious fall snack! Pumpkin seeds are full of fiber, vitamins, and minerals and they taste incredible after being roasted and seasoned.

We love roasting pumpkin seeds at Halloween, and it’s a fun way to make the most of our family’s pumpkin-carving tradition!

To select a pumpkin for this recipe, you’ll want to choose one that’s likely to have lots of seeds inside.

How can you tell there are loads of seeds? Typically, larger pumpkins tend to contain more seeds than the smaller ones. But stay away from the pumpkins that feel heavier than they should for their size. Those are often more dense, with less open space on the inside and fewer seeds.

Hip tip for making Ranch Seasoned Roasted Pumpkin Seeds:

An easy way to separate the pulp from the seeds is to fill a large bowl with water and place the seeds inside. Let them soak while you’re busy carving pumpkins, and the pulp will start sinking to the bottom. You may have to stir the seeds with your hands to get the remaining pulp off. Finish by rinsing them in a colander.

These were very TASTY!

It wouldn’t be fall without roasted pumpkin seeds at our house, and my family thoroughly enjoyed these. There’s a variety of seasonings and spices that you could add to your roasted pumpkin seeds, but if you enjoy ranch seasoning, then this is a great place to start.

Oohhh, Ranch sounds great! I usually toss mine with coconut oil & cinnamon or sea salt. And you can do the same for spaghetti & butternut squash seeds too!

    • Lina D

Great idea! Thanks for sharing πŸ‘πŸ»

    • thrift

I usually roast my pumpkin seeds, but never thought about spaghetti & butternut squash seeds. Thanks for the info!

I’m doing this tonight. I was hoping to bake my seeds just wasn’t sure how. Pumpkin seeds always remind me of my first grade teacher, she would bring them in an give them to us, inside little baggies for snacks.

We always do this and the kids love them, with ranch. Though I typically bake them in my air fryer.

    • Lori

Thanks sara! Hadn’t thought of using the air fryer.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

  11. Sue

OK, ignorant question here: Do you eat the hulls, too, or somehow get the seed out of the hull then eat? Thanks for clarification!

    • Shari

Just pop the whole thing in your mouth 😁

  12. Shari

I don’t rinse mine off. They have way more flavor with a little “pumpkin guts” on them πŸ˜‰

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh good thinking! Ha

      • Sue

Thanks! I couldn’t imagine trying to get the seeds out of the hull and remaining sane πŸ™‚

Thank you. Google has so many times/temps/methods for pumpkin seeds. I tried twice last year, first burned then too soggy. I’ll try yours this year!!
