Did you know that today, August 10th, is National S’mores Day? We’ve got 5 oh-so-yummy S’mores recipes you can make to celebrate the day!

Gooey roasted marshmallow and melted chocolate bar s’mores are pretty much one of the best summer dessert ideas EVER! These must-try s’mores recipes conjure up fun campfire memories from my childhood, as well as those with my own kiddos.

We still love a great s’more, and we actually make them year-round sometimes using the grill (or even indoors using the oven or gas stove burner).

My kids and I recently tried some exciting s’more combinations, and today I’m sharing our favorites!

different candy and unique ingredients to make s'mores

Try these creative and yummy s’mores ideas!

  1. Add a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup instead of plain chocolate. It’s amazing with the addition of that yummy peanut butter flavor.
  2. Bacon and chocolate may seem like an odd combination, but this sweet and salty flavor mash-up is pretty yummy! If you’re a bacon fan, try it!
  3. Fudge-striped cookies are delicious by themselves, so when you add a roasted marshmallow, there’s no need for more chocolate. It’s the best 2-ingredient s’more!
  4. Ever tried s’mores using a York Peppermint Patty on the inside?! This was our absolute favorite combo! Seriously, though – it’s like eating a Thin Mint S’more, and it was so, so, soooo good!
  5. Pull apart an Oreo cookie and sandwich in chocolate and a melted marshmallow for a gooey “S’moreo”!

We are loving all these creative chocolate smore’s variations!

I’m all for trying new ways to enjoy s’mores. I think it would so fun to set up a Build Your Own S’more Bar at your next backyard gathering or camping trip and have all the ingredients on hand for everyone to build their ultimate s’more.

Try making a bunch of s’mores at once using a sheet pan in the oven!

oreo s'mores on a sheet pan

I tried making melted s’more Oreos or “S’moreos” in the oven and here are my results!

On my first try, I overcooked the marshmallows in the oven and they slid off the sheet pan and it became a giant mess. LOL! I ended up trying again and was successful. This does get kind of messy but is so delicious. My kids loved the Oreo s’mores.

Follow these steps to make sheet pan Oreo s’mores:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
  • Twist off the tops of 12 Oreo cookies. Place the bottoms on a sheet pan.
  • Place a small piece of chocolate on top of each Oreo.
  • Place a marshmallow on top of the chocolate and bake in the oven for about 90 seconds – 2 minutes to melt.
  • Take the sheet pan out of the oven and place the tops back on the Oreos. Enjoy!

Those look delicious! Once when I didn’t have chocolate bars on hand we spread Nutella on the graham cracker as a replacement. It was SO good! Now we do it on purpose.

    • Kristine

Yes! My daughter suggested using Nutella on our s’mores for our next camping trip and since graham crackers are out of stock at our Walmart, we’re going to use coconut macaroons as a sub. I can’t wait to try them!

  2. Lo

A friend told me peeps for the marshmallow is really good.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes that’s yummy too! We have tried it after Easter 👏

  3. patricialavenz-goff

I have never had a smores. Might try the bacon.

  4. Becca

These all look delicious. We bought a propane fire pit on Sunday and my teenagers are making s’mores every night. I’ll have to show them these ideas. Thanks for sharing!

PS. If anyone is thinking about a propane fire pit -we love it! I can’t have a regular fire pit because the smell immediately triggers my migraines. This is a great and just as fun alternative and less mess!

So, my dear husband never had s’mores before in his life time 😳(I know right!?) I told him everything to buy, and instead of buying Graham Crackers, he bought club crackers. 🤦‍♀️ Which is salty crackers. They turned out great, and I’m a seasoned “traditional” s’mores kinda gal! (Didn’t tell the hubby till afterwards and had to explain the difference) 😋 however! The salty sweet was perfect. I’d recommend looking for a salty outside to balance out the sweet inside 😋

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh wow I love that story! How funny and I’m glad it all turned out yummy 😋

  6. Christine

Must try girl scout shortbread cookies in place of graham crackers- they are soo good!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh yummy idea – thanks for sharing ❤️

  7. Mj

My boys go to YMCA day camp and they make their s’mores with the fudge stripe cookies (no mess!) and it tastes so much better to me (the original way is always to sweet for me – and too big!) The fudge stripe s’mores are all our family makes now since everybody loves them this way – definitely worth a try!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yum we love those too!

  8. Pat Goff

I have never tried them but somehow the look just makes me not want to try it. Thanks for sharing. I have forwarded to my girlfriend. She loves chocolate.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for passing along the post to a friend, Pat. Hoping she enjoys these ideas! 🤗
