  7. Julie

Great video! Always puts a smile on my face 🙂 I don’t have any instant coffee so I’ll have to add that to my list.

  8. deisy

My 4 yr old son likes watching your videos.

    • Julie

mine too! he just asked me to make him this drink because it looks fun to do.

  9. SK

You are a hoot Collin….. I make something similar and they are amazing… Very addictive…. Add Baileys Irish cream to it while blending and you have your own spiked version…. Oh I want one now… Off I go 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

YUM! I’m loving the Baileys Irish Cream idea! 😉

  10. Jacki

Love your videos and the straw glasses at the end were too funny!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      😉

  11. Suzy

you are too cute – if you don’t put too much sugar in it and use non fat milk it would be less fattening :))

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Great idea… I think I’ll do that when I make this again!

  12. jennifer

Love the video, don’t drink coffee but well worth it to watch anyway. Love it when you plop the chocolate syrup in and love the little music that plays when something doesn’t go exactly right, lol.

    • angie

I was going to say the same thing about the music…that’s my favorite part of the videos. My mouth started watering as the whipped cream was squirted on. Yum!

  13. Mini

Where did u get the table decoration ? Looking cool! By the way,u r rocking with ur vedios😎

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hi Mini,

I actually purchased from a local store that sells decorative home items on the cheap! 🙂

  14. laura wyatt

Technically that would be a Java Chip Frappiccino…. The chocolatey chip has no coffee.

    • M

Ditto to what Laura Wyatt posted!
Also, as a heads up, in my experience if you use soy it’ll likely turn out less smooth than regular milk.

    • Alyssa

I was going to write the same thing.
Java Chip=Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino + Coffee

      • Alison

To make the no coffee version, will the recipe work minus the instant coffee? Would any modifications be needed? Thanks!

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I would think it would taste fine without the instant coffee. You could always add a bit more chocolate if you wanted! 😀

          • Alison

Thanks, Collin! I’ll take any excuse for more chocolate! Thanks for making such a fun site to save money!!

  15. Andrea

You have the best videos, good info served with a guaranteed smile!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thank you! I sure appreciate your comment! 🙂

  16. Vivian Irizarry

Why did I click on this link…I wonder as I make my way to the kitchen to blend my own frap…love your dancing while you wait 🙂 Thx!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Enjoy!! 🙂

  17. Mel

How funny! I was about to make a frozen coffee… but this sounds soo much better! gonna cut the ingredients in half since its just me that likes them!

  18. Nina

    Colin you made my day

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      🙂

  19. shireen

Great video.. This is one of my favorite drinks but I never bother to dissolve the coffee in water- since most in stand coffee mixes and dissolves while I blend and I like the creamier taste without the water

  20. Harlow

Cute video! Dancing makes everything better doesn’t it? This is one of my fav. drinks at s-bucks BTW 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yep – it sure does! If I’m in a bad mood, the music comes on and my body starts moving… possibly not to the beat – but who cares! 😉

  21. Erin

I just can’t get into all the recent guest posts, but I love your recipe posts–even when I don’t intend on making the recipe! So much personality!

  22. Janell

Collin. you’re so cute! I have three teenagers, so we can’t wait to make this. We spend way to much for these.

  23. Amy

Hubby and I each got a pair of those straw glasses a few years ago, and he LOVED them. Sadly they didn’t make our move last month… Please let us know if they come up again?! 🙂

  24. Carrie

Shouldn’t the milk be measured in a liquid measuring cup not a dry one? 🙂 Looks good regardless!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

LOL! Can ya tell I’m not a pro in the kitchen?! 😉

      • Brindha

You are not alone. I didn’t know we have to have two kinds of measuring cups… Oh well! 🙂

      • Anne

This recipe doesn’t have to exact measurements so the liquid measuring cup is not really necessary.

  25. Liz OB

So I called Starbucks a while back and asked what coffee they used in the mocha frappuccino because we bought a bunch of Starbucks bags with a deal you provided of course! and my hubby was making the most delicious drinks! So I call and ask which coffee blend and they said, “we don’t use real coffee. The frappuccino is made with powder.” !!!EWWW!!! Never ordered that again! Waste of money for them to pour powder milk and ice in the blender! I will always buy their ground or whole bean coffee though. So great to not have to pay for fancy coffee when chef husband makes it better neways! OOOO and adding cinnamon or nutmeg adds so much great flavor!!!

    • Brianna

I used to work at Starbucks. The coffee based frappuccinos have coffee in them and as a result caffeine. It is not powdered milk. It’s basically a really finely ground instant coffee powder that is dissolved in water. Typically recipes for coffee based frappuccinos require a certain amount of pumps of coffee roast which is the powdered coffee mix and whole milk. Decaf can be made with decaf espresso shots. The real key is the base used as the final step that really binds it together in a creamy consistency.

    • Alyssa

I’ve worked there for 12 years; you were misinformed. While, yes, it is a powder, it’s actually 100% coffee powder (think VIA instant coffee) rehydrated into a liquid which we pump into the Frappuccino beverages. We use real whole milk (or whatever you request) and the base is made of the sweeteners and gums to make it blend well.

  26. Krista

Your videos always brighten my day!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So glad to hear that… and your comment brightened my day! 🙂

  27. Katie

So if I wanted to make a chocolatey chip frap and not a java chip frap, would I just take out the hot water and coffee in the beginning? Would the amount of sugar or anything need to change?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yep… I would just remove that step with the hot water and instant coffee… then just add in a tablespoon or so of sugar in the blender with the other ingredients.

      • katie

        awesome. thanks!

  28. Lisa

About how much does the recipe make? My teen daughter is a frappo fanatic! She doesn’t need to drink a whole blender full…would I cut it by 1/2 or 1/4 for one 12-16 oz drink. THANKS!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It makes two pretty large servings, so I would cut the recipe in 1/2 (and you may still have a bit leftover).

  29. Gail

Oh Collin, I love you! Thanks for making me smile with your video. You’re so cute!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You are sweet! Thanks for the kind words… 🙂

    Wow..looks delicious..

  35. S

Out of topic and probably not the right place.. But I know u ladies are great..I don’t bake a lot so brought a pack if Betty Crocker cookie mix which requires egg as an ingredient, and we don’t eat egg so if anyone is aware of any kind of substitute..thanks a lot..

    • Tana

Ground flax seeds wok as an egg substitute. Just google it.

  36. Carol

Ohhhh Collin, thank you, thank you, thank you!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You are so, so, so welcome! 🙂

  37. Michelle W

I’m getting ready to have oral surgery this week and I will make sure I have all the ingredients for this at home so my husband can make it for me while on my liquid diet :). Loved the video 🙂

  38. Jennifer

    Collin- YOU Are ADORABLE!
Curious if you tan or use bronzer? U always look beach bronze, cute & perky! Love it. Don’t feel obligated to tell ur secrets- but please take the compliment:)

  39. visitor3

    Fun video!

To get all the yummy whipped cream out of the squirty bottle, be sure to hold it straight down when squiriting. If it’s at an angle, more of the air escapes, leaving some cream behind at the end with no air to push it out.

  40. Kathryn

I just made this with my own modifications. Instead of dissolving sugar in the coffee, I used ground white chocolate powder. I also used caramel sauce instead of chocolate. SOOO yummy! Thanks for the idea! Love it! 🙂

  41. Starla

My daughter won those glasses at a Christmas gift exchange party. She loves them!

  42. Kimberly

Hey Collin I love your cabinets and the color of them! Did you DIY them and if so could you tell me the paint color? They look bluish gray in the videos.

  43. Jennifer

I wish I could “bump” this video up or something. THIS IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA!!! To be honest I am (was) a Frappuccino virgin. I have some mocha instant coffee (Maxwell house, I think). I used that……….HEAVEN. I am hooked. Soooooo Good. Thanks Collin- you make the day more fun!!! 🙂

  44. Linda

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Starbucks Double Chocolate Chip Frapp doesn’t have coffee in it does it? Maybe there are more than one. The Double Chocolate Chip Creme Frapp is non coffee. I can’t drink coffee so maybe I can figure out how to make the non coffee one.

  45. Jen

Great video. Only thing double chocolate chip frap has no coffee. It is the java chip that has coffee.

  46. Nana Donna 2 5

This is a great way to use up instant coffee you’re not fond of (i.e. VIA packets, etc.). I used a probiotic dark chocolate candy bar instead of chocolate chips and 1-2 Stevia packets for sugar. I also used SF caramel syrup instead of chocolate and left out the vanilla. Mine filled a venti-size SB cold cup. I’m the only coffee drinker in my family, so don’t have to share! ;D

  47. Michelle Stadel

yum! Just made one, found out midway that i am out of milk, so i used cream!! Delish!!

  48. Tina Watson

Any suggestions on how to make a double shot mocha frappacino?
