Does anyone know of a good sight word flashcard app? I’ve been trying to find a decent one for my 1st grader to help with his reading but I haven’t come across any that I like. They’re mostly just games, not what I was looking for. I’ll probably end up having to make my own on google slides

For printing worksheets try education.com. It’s free too

    • franny5

I love jack hartman on YouTube he has a lot of sight word videos.

You could try Teachers Pay Teachers. Lots of sellers are creating digital resources for distance learning that use things like Google slides or PowerPoint. Most of the resources are for sale, but the site has tons of free downloads too. I used the freebies a lot when I taught at a homeschool academy.

My daughter had this for a couple years. It is higher qualitiy than ABC Mouse and goes to higher levels than ABC Mouse and Starfall. Between Homer Learning, Starfall and a few other simpler apps, she 80% learned how to read on her own! I homeschool and had her play on those apps while I taught my older daughter writing and math 1 on 1. It wasn’t my plan, I just told her she could play educational apps or with her non electronic apps while I needed time with older daughter 1:1.

Homer is a wonderful educational app! It was recommended to us by our pediatrician. I love that it customizes the learning based on the age and how they’re responding to the questions. My 4 and 6 year old love it.

    We have been loving Homer!

How can you continue at the $45 price? I signed up and it says it will charge me $9.99 a month.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Jessica! It looks like you can select which free trial option you’d like. There is one for the $45/year OR the $9.99/month. You can find each option listed when clicking through the main link above and scrolling down a bit. I also found that you can manage your account subscription when you login, click on your email address at the top right of the page and then select “settings”. Hope this is helpful!

          You’re very welcome!

At the very bottom of their webpage it offers educators a FREE account! I’m a teacher and signed up easy. Considering all parents are teachers … give it a try!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

How cool! Thanks for the heads up on your find, Kim!

    • Jennifer Lisa

      Sounds unethical.

    • franny5

      Free forever?

    • daisy-0

Oh I wonder if I can get this free since I am now homeschooling my twins. Not distance learning, that was too much sitting infront of. Computer with 150 other kids per class so I built our curriculum this year and took it on myself

  8. Amy

It only continues to be free for educators past the free trial if enough parents sign up for it through your “classroom” you create. Just an FYI.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing, Amy! Good to know!

  9. Lynne

Anyone use this for a special needs child?

    • janicecookharris

I am. My daughter is 19 and reads kinder to first grade level. I have been happy with it. I sit down with her and watch her. I recommend the trial period and see if you like it.

  10. KR

Can you cancel during your trial and still have the remainder of the trial available?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hmm, I’m not finding details on that. You could always set a reminder to cancel near the end of your trial. Hope this helps!

  11. KR

Ok, here is my feedback: app was freezing a lot, to my and my 2 y o’s frustration. When I went to cancel membership, it was easy, in the browser window, but that’s when I saw that instead of a free 60 day I was only given a free 30 day, with the monthly charge being scheduled a month from now, contrary to what I saw when I was signing up. That is concerning. Good news – when I went to cancel, it offered me a year for $29! If you wanted a year, that would be a neat option!

    • daisy-0

      Rad! Thank you for this!

  12. Ashley

Hey, everybody, i am just curious. How old are your kidos? My daughter is 3, will this be a great idea. I dont want her addict into tablet or any electronics. Thanks

  13. Beth

I just signed up for this app and when I went to download it on Apple it said that it was not available in our country. Has anyone else had this issue?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hmm, maybe try reaching out to customer service – support@homerapp.com Hoping they may be able to help!

    • Lori

If you search for it on the App Store, you should be able to find and download it.

  14. Ahmed

    I just love learning

  15. Deena

60 days trail can I get it on app instead of website

  16. Deena

I am not even getting 60 days free trial I’m just getting 30 days free trial I don’t know why can somebody help me with that please if possible

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hmm, I still see the 60 day trial offer listed as I click through the link above. Maybe try a different browser. It appears for me in Chrome. Hoping this helps!

      • Deena

Sure will try in new browser thanks 😊

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

          You’re welcome!

My two year old wasn’t a fan at all, maybe if he was older he would’ve love it.
