three Santa's Lazy Gnomes arranged around a book

The Christmas season is getting close – and that means Elf on the Shelf!

Does finding creative ways to move an Elf on the Shelf around every single day during the holidays stress you out? Give yourself a break while still making a little Christmas magic for your kiddos with a fun Santa’s Lazy Gnome!

Instead of moving him around every night, Santa’s Gnome just hangs out in the same spot and watches over your children wherever they are and reports to Santa if they’re being naughty or nice.

Best. idea. ever. 🙌

“No hide and seek or silly games to keep this Santa’s helper around. Santa sent The Lazy Gnome to help with the Naughty/Nice list. These mysterious friends report to Santa if you’re naughty or nice, even when you’re out of sight.”

Sound right up your alley? 🙋🏼‍♀️ You’re in luck! Santa’s Lazy Gnome is available to order now for $28.99 plus free shipping. Or, if you’d rather use up a few of those Amazon gift cards, you can snag a Santa’s Lazy Gnome with an argyle or snowflake hat on Amazon for $29.90 shipped.

Along with the little guy, you will also get a 40-page children’s book that explains to your child how the Gnome helps Santa.

Elf on the shelf is a lot of work, but it’s so fun to see the kids so excited! I won’t be making the trade 😆

My thought too! Maybe in addition…

I made our elf on the shelf “lazy” last season, and it worked great. Same thing will happen this year. I’m so over the stress of moving it every night.

Wanted this last year but it sold out really quickly. Not sure if it’s worth that price for the package though….. I always found the elf super creepy and sold it after getting one as a gift.

I think the elf is creepy too. It’s the eyes lol

We bought Christopher Pop-In-Kins 10 years ago when my oldest was born. We were ready to buy his partner elf, Christina, but they were discontinued. Soooooo bummed!! Might have to buy a gnome instead.

We did elf on a shelf since my son was maybe 4. It was such a joy for us and him. We never used it as a tool to tempt him to behave. He just would talk to him and quietly ask him for special toys. It was so sweet. Now this year his friend told him there is no Santa and he’s old enough where we had to tell him the truth. Well, once he realized about Santa, he said what about my elf? I felt so heartbroken that I had to welcome him to the cold world. Lol. This was such a fun tradition for our family. This year, we’ll be sad. 😔

@Berrylandnow I don’t see why you can’t continue with your fun traditions. My sister and I still receive gifts from “Santa”. I’m 48! Maybe there’s some way to involve him in the fun of the elf… obviously things have changed a little, but maybe you can involve him in the planning of the elf’s adventures now, somehow. Maybe take turns with him… you set up the elf and he finds it… then it’s his turn to do it for you to discover. Think creatively .

Thanks Stephanie. That is a great idea!

Same! I’m 49 and I carry up Santa’s gifts from the basement and my mom sends me gifts from Santa too! There is still plenty to look forward to, enjoy the festivities, the lights, music, etc! Still make it fun and he’ll enjoy it just as much:)

My 2 boys are 22 and 19. I get them each a gift every year and wrap it in Santa paper and don’t put it out until Christmas morning. I think it’s more fun for me than them 🙂 I always know it’s the one gift they haven’t seen under the tree.

          • Deb

Maybe right now “it’s more fun for me than them,” but someday in the future, they will look back at this tradition and smile!

I have 6 kids,4 have grown up and moved out. They all at one point start asking about if Santa is real as they get older. Every time I just say if you don’t believe in Santa that is fine,I guess you won’t get a gift from him if you don’t believe and I never have them ask again. Lol. They figure it out on their own but I am not the bearer of bad news:) My oldest still come over on Christmas to open their stocking from Santa.

We were a little late to the Elf on the Shelf tradition but still had a few fun years before my now-11yo confessed that she doesn’t believe anymore. Our elf still comes but without the elaborate set-ups. Last year I bought a red velvet gift bag that looks like an elf sized Santa sack – our elf hid every morning with a new small/inexpensive toy/treat for my daughter in her little sack. My daughter enjoyed looking for her every morning and getting a small surprise. I liked it better than the mischief our elf used to get into because it only took me a minute to hide her each night. Last year my daughter wanted to experiment with make-up (only at home, not out) so most of the treats were make-up items I got cheaply with drug store deal. This year I think the elf will be bringing fidget toys, like generic monkey noodles and some others I saw on Amazon.
Once she gets into her late teenage years, I may start some of the funnier elf set-ups I’ve seen online.

These are cute. Luckily I already own the Bare Minimum Elf. He’s lazy and selfish, and doesn’t bring the kids anything or get into any trouble. In fact, he barely moves around the house each night and most mornings, I have to give him swift kick in the rear to get a move on before the kids make it down the stairs 😏

  8. MosleyMom

I can picture having both and having the elf make the gnome do different exercises around the house every few days hahahaha.

I’ve also seen elf on the shelf quarantine for 2 weeks after it arrives. 🙈

    • MommySpendsLess

That seems sad to me. Kids already had less time with their friends, less fun activities, lame birthdays, cancelled vacations and possibly no Halloween this year. I couldn’t imagine making them sit and wait 2 weeks for their elf friend to be released from a box as a joke or to save myself a little effort.

      • Lunafalls

I agree; that’s mean. Kids have missed out on SO much this year, and they’re not going to get that year of their childhood back.

  10. Ann

Enough lazy people around without having lazy Gnomes also. Kind of pathetic really.

  11. MBarnes

I just bought Gnomes that look just like these from the Dollar Tree. I wonder if they sell the book separately?
